The Grundy call makes plenty of sense, more teams are going to elect to play 2 ruckmen with talk of the bench increasing to 5. Having a quality AA ruck on the ground at all times will give us a significant advantage at stopages, making it harder for us to lose to territory game. There wouldn’t be too many teams that could complete in the clearances against us.

Freo went and offered top dollar from day one, forcing current players off their list including a club champion with no negotiation from the Jackson camp. You may think I’m being a nuffie but you’re living in la la land if you really believe this move has nothing to do with the cash.

He is demanding an outrageous contract, it’s going to be so much worse for him next year. I fear his career will go down the same path of Scully/Boyd. Over paid based on potential and not ready to perform consistently like a player on 800k plus. At least I know it won’t be us dealing with that contract.

Jackson isn’t 7 years into the system and stagnated. Jackson has proven big game experience and played a vital role in a flag winning team. Jackson isn’t in abundance, I hate the term but he is a unicorn. Jackson’s value is evident by freo offering 800k plus for a 20 year olds signature.

Clayton doesn’t only touch the ball 19 times a game, you would expect a player playing as many midfield minutes as hopper you would have more than 19 touches with bugger all score involvements. If you read my post you would see I said baulking at his value of two first rounders, and compared him statistically to Sparrow, which the numbers do not lie. One season in what 8 making the AA 40 squad doesn’t give you a value of 2 first rounders. He isn’t all Australian, as you alluded to he is a pure mid that has only ever averaged 26 touches in his best season, he doesn’t kick goals, he has little score involvements… so yes I am perplexed at the potential trade value of 2 first rounders.

Indeed I have watched him and cannot see what makes him a gun? In fact he ranks elite in only one AFL metric which is goal accuracy only because he almost never takes shots at goal. Don’t get me wrong a decent but average footballer in the afl landscape, only guns should be traded for 2 first rounders, he has not proven to be a gun.
