Clayton doesn’t only touch the ball 19 times a game, you would expect a player playing as many midfield minutes as hopper you would have more than 19 touches with bugger all score involvements. If you read my post you would see I said baulking at his value of two first rounders, and compared him statistically to Sparrow, which the numbers do not lie. One season in what 8 making the AA 40 squad doesn’t give you a value of 2 first rounders. He isn’t all Australian, as you alluded to he is a pure mid that has only ever averaged 26 touches in his best season, he doesn’t kick goals, he has little score involvements… so yes I am perplexed at the potential trade value of 2 first rounders.

Indeed I have watched him and cannot see what makes him a gun? In fact he ranks elite in only one AFL metric which is goal accuracy only because he almost never takes shots at goal. Don’t get me wrong a decent but average footballer in the afl landscape, only guns should be traded for 2 first rounders, he has not proven to be a gun.

25 year old who should be in his peak averaging under 20 touches as a mid, doesn’t kick goals and doesn’t hurt you with you with his touches. I’d disagree and say he is criminally over rated. statistically Tom sparrow offers more and is 3 years younger. Would you expected 2 first rounders for sparrow?

Twoomey also reckons hopper is with two first rounders (be it two late teen first rounders) by that logic Jackson would be worth 8 first rounders

We need a second tall plain and simple, we have got too cute with max starting forward and letting LJ start ruck. Max is the captain and the man, own the ruck and bring us another cup. I watched Casey up here against Brisbane and watched Weid very closely, granted it was one game but Wylie Buzza took him to the cleaners, any contact in a marking contest completely deters his ability to complete. JVR on the other hand, looked like a footballer, much bigger than I expected. Competed in the air and was good on the ground. Debutants provide energy to the team and we could ride his story through the next 3 games. He won’t need to come in and star, just play his role and provides unknown to our opposition. Pretty sure he was sooking not long ago about the GC tactics against his forward line which was analysed with behind the goal visions where there was absolutely nothing to be seen. The guy knows if we play anywhere near our best we are a 5 goal better side at any ground.
