mate. he's outta form. when on song, garlett kicks goals, applies pressure and is in discussions for the all australian squad. that wouldn't happen if he was a 'front-runner'. furthermore, i prefer personality and a little bit of quicksilver in my team. not boring foot soldiers with no spirit or flair. sometimes quicksilver is hard to predict and sometimes it does magical things.. i hope he is back in the first team asap. and i hope he kicks a bag in our first GF win since 1964 in the next few years.

i agree, but as everyone on this sites whines about how its fine we are on masterchef, surely we can sign our current crop as well as look at outside players (literally) to join the club? i'm sure the club is more than capable these days to juggle some balls..

you wouldn't be the CEO of a major company/a Liberal party member would you by chance?..
-
nah, i think my kind are often referred to as 'SJW's". good joke but.
-
let's just agree to disagree.. at the end of the day, it doesn't really offend me that they were on this shitty show, i just don't see it as a positive. as someone from northern nsw, if you think that people from the northern states will tune in to watch the dees v blues game as a result of the show, or even think of the dees again in their lives, you are delusional. but that's ok, it's a forum and can all have our own opinions ?
-
the connection is, you don't deserve attention until you've earned it. we haven't. and the club seems to intent on pushing the 'image' before we've even got a clear idea of what we are on the field.
-
maybe he we should get hunt to play some oz-tag or something to get to work on learning some side steps/tricky footwork? as some posters have said, he seems unable to change his running path once he gains speed. some cross-training might help this?

this is the kinda [censored] that makes the general public ask if we are getting ahead of ourselves.. who cares about exposure?! get exposure by playing a tough, exciting brand of football!!! jayzus!

The Curnow Brothers at the Tribunal
Mt. Dee-Maaan replied to davejemmolly's topic in Melbourne Demons
can't believe either of them got off. also, jack ziebell not getting done for dropping his knees was nuts too. extremely concerning precedents. -
yes, i did think of the adelaide game last year too.. and the west coast one with t-mac's goal. just not sure that this current style will win the big games? i am a little worried.. i was at the hawks game too. when oliver pirouhetted around 3-4 hawks with a sublime handpass and oliver got crunched by rioli.. great game. still the best i've attended, i agree. and it was the sam weideman's first too! yeah yeah... i'll believe it when they start to convert all these inside 50's ?
-
you think we've improved? our game style is way more consistent and we are showing we beat teams below us, but i still think that our near win against adelaide two years ago in adelaide and our win at the G against the hawks showed the way that i wish we could play every week. that side would beat our current side for sure.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 8
Mt. Dee-Maaan replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
because it would be stupid to play exactly the same team against very different opponents week to week? also, why should we be replacing mids with mids and backs with backs, like you suggest, if goodwin is so focused on all the players playing a variety of roles? salem has played just as much midfield this year as in the backline.. if not more! if they wanted hunt out, they could've got rearranged the team in a variety of other ways. salem was looking good in the midfield and added a toughness that we haven't had since viney, in my opinon. sometimes at the back, salem doesn't get as involved as i'd like. -
rubbish. he kicked them against a crappy vfl team. he is admired internally and should an injury occur to one of our tall forwards, he'll be next in line. reliable.
-
i love the jumper we wore that related to the yarra (local to melbourne). that was the pick. i reckon teams should pick a design specific to their area and keep it for at least a few years... this is a good one though. but that previous one was a fave.

Pre-Game Warm up Music. Hells-Bells or Highway to HELL
Mt. Dee-Maaan replied to DV8's topic in Melbourne Demons
its quite a contrast isn't it! haha. once that trumpet starts.. -
i acknowledge that he's been a lot more reliable of late and his extra bulk means that he is no longer a pushover against most forwards.. HOWEVER, he is still super slow in his decision-making and is rubbish below his waist. as soon as the ball goes to ground he's done. he gets into weird positions during congestion in the back half too. so he's definitely not out of the woods yet, but yes, much much better these days and lots to work with!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Mt. Dee-Maaan replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
uhh.. oliver, petracca, viney.. -
harmes has no foot skills. he is hard. can take a good mark. only worth a run up forward i'd reckon and there's others ahead of him there. if he improves his skills he can go in the midfield, but not until then..
-
maybe because things don't need to be constantly overexplained to us? he's a first year player and clearly quite thin. they threw him in for round 1 and he did some great things. not one of his favourites?! you're kidding right? maybe cite JKH instead.
-
you guessed right esay. if you are referring to throwing in baker, than surely we can't do any worse. we're bog-slow atm. he isn't a little guy, so won't get crunched. who knows, he might step up?
-
i HATE esseondon, but they are gonna cut us up. maybe worth chucking in young oskar baker? i'd rather stick with garlett. he might come out and win the game. spargo isn't quite there yet.. drop ANB. get pedo in (we need someone that marks it). maybe drop weids/harmes.
-
he'll just lift the arms and handpass. no worries. especially with his kiwi background. those tactics won't work. teams need to get two players at him at a time. from different directions. afl players also need to learn how to tackle front on!
