  1. His last VFL against Werribee he was at times playing on Whyley Buzza who is a 198cm key forward.
  2. He wasn't named emergency on the weekend?
  3. I have not once seen Smith show remotely any of this speed and run and carry. It doesn't exactly have to be like for like in terms of pace, but on the naked eye Hibberd has the pace over Smith. Jayden Hunts last game against Gold Coast he had 379m gained. Joel Smith's last 4 games at AFL level last year his metres gain were 69m v Essendon, 59m v GWS, 45m v Freo and 61m against the Swans. Joel Smith adds absolutely minimal to our team should only be considered if Petty goes down.
  4. Bringing in Joel Smith at this time of the year would would just be plain silly. Hibberd is obviously the right replacement as it's a like for like. Hibberd is able to provide run and carry whereas Smith plays as that 3rd tall defender. Bringing in Smith for Hunt takes our one less run and carry.
  5. A picture can always tell a thousand words. It's easy to make assumptions from a single click of a picture I'd rather see video evidence in full motion before casting a judgement.
  6. I found the Gary Pert comment of him not worried if we played a grand final with or without crowd in in Melbourne extremely disappointing. He cannot be serious? Playing in a grand final at the MCG with no crowd would be the biggest kick in the guts to all long time suffering supporters who have sat through the darkest of days seeing us getting pumped by 60 points most weeks. The one year we actually look like genuine premiership favourites it simply cannot be played in an empty stadium in Melbourne. Even Simon Goodwin on Triple M today stated he would rather finals with crowds etc. If Melbourne doesn't work then Perth simply has to become a genuine option.
  7. Now confirmed on mfc website. Expected 4 weeks in the sideline. Good Intel btw
  8. Looking at this Clio you would think he's a 100 game veteran. Ridiculously clean and his awareness is quite impressive as well.
  9. Vanders was horrible. Game has passed him.
  10. 2 words. Jason Taylor.
  11. Brodie Smith will also be out with concussion.
  12. Hence why I said footy can be cruel at times.
  13. Bit sad and hasn't got any recognition from the Melbourne media department, but last night was Vanders 50th AFL game. Came in the same draft year as Petracca, Brayshaw and Alex Neale Bullen and all 3 players have gone on to player over 100 games. Footy can be cruel at times.
  14. Flushed it well didn't he!
  15. I think Vanders knows it too. Watched his body language closely after the siren sounded and he looked like a man that knows he's played his last AFL. Won't survive another game after that performance. If we are needing another experienced big body then I think I'd go with Nathan Jones this time around.
  16. You can add Harrison Petty and Charlie Spargo to that list. Both still only 21.
  17. Kicked his 300th AFL goal. Probably an achievement that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. But well done Benny Brown. I think it's fair to say now that he's locked his spot in the team now going into finals. Starting to hit some good form now which is handy and really think we'll Brown play a crucial role come September. Played a great game last night especially early when he was giving us a target to kick too. Surprisingly was also clean in the wet conditions as well.
  18. What a jet.. footy smarts, composure, and a tough nut. What great timing in hitting a great form on the eve of finals. Kid must be on cloud 9. Oh and well done Jason Taylor, Tim Lamb and the rest of the recruiting staff. I think back to this video on how quietly confident in Both Bowey and Laurie as player's.
  19. Unfortunately my gut feel is that it could be ankle syndesmosis. Fingers crossed it's not.
  20. Just quietly I thought James Jordon came in and played a very important role. The extra run he was able to provide certainly helped. I hope he stays in next week.
  21. Over the journey he's frustrated a lot of fans (me including). He's gone through diversity and was pretty much shown the door last year. Came back with an aggressive mindset and has had a fantastic year this year. I always thought his 2018 year was overrated as fat too often we saw too many brain fades in games and fumbles. This year I reckon he's had about 3 games where he's probably frustrated me with those brain fades. But it's a vast improvement and he's certainly worked extremely hard on his game in smoothing out his weaknesses. His connection into our forward line is probably the best in the team. If there is a guy I want the ball in hand when delivering inside forward 50 then it's Nibbler. Highly respected figure and a big part of our leadership. Well done nibbler, you should be extremely proud of your career so far. Still has many good years to come.
  22. Put my hand up and say I've been riding him hard the last few weeks. Mostly just me thinking that he needed to have a spell so that he's cherry ripe for finals. How wrong was I. Jackson was phenomenal last night and I had him down as a clear BOG. I also thought this was his game ever in red and blue. He was unbelievably clean last night and coming up against his childhood hero in Naitanui didn't faze him one bit. His contested marking is really starting to shine through now and I put that down to the more games and experience he's gained this year. It shows amazing resilience and strong mental capacity that he can will himself out of a form slump at the age of 19. We're seeing a future star unfold before our eyes You can now tell that he belongs in this level now. I put Harrison Petty in that same basket. Both players are going to play pivotal roles come September.
  23. Yeah that's definitely not happening. Melksham will stay in.
