Nah just Jack Viney pumping out a 400kg bench press.

If you had asked me this time last week in regards to Cerra I would have said my hopes of getting him was at 95%. Just finding it extremely hard how to satisfy Freo especially Peter Bell being such a tight [censored]. Unfortunately we just don't have the capital to satisfy Freo. I'm a bigger fan more anyone then on Cerra. His under 18's year still sticks clear in my mind on how dominant he was. His Eastern Rangers coach Darren Bewick has been on record saying at the time that he can be as equal talented as Petracca who he also coached. Throw Cerra into our midfield mix next year and it's the best midfield combination in the competition.

Really surprised Richmond aren't part of the discussion. I would have thought they needed some midfield depth coming through and also a replacement for Cotchin who'll be 32 next year. Haven't bothered to look at their draft hand but I am sure they have 3 first round draft picks?

I said the same about Essendon's list last year and they made the finals this year. I've learnt not to completely write clubs off before they begin the new season. While Carlton were woeful at times this year they were still challenging for top 8 in the last 5 weeks of the season.

This coming from someone who absolutes hates Carlton to the bone. So it actually pains me to write all that.

Cerra has pretty much openly stated that he just wants to get home to Victoria and also wants Freo compensated well. Choosing Carlton isn't exactly the worse case scenario. They've recruited a HIGHLY successful person in Brian Cook and it seems Voss is their man to coach. Their list isn't exactly bad as some are making out to be. You've got a 10 year key forward in Harry McKay you can build around and then Sam Walsh who's an absolute star in the making. Weitering also is a future All Australian full back and adding Cerra makes them extra competitive. They still need to add a few depth which they have already with Hewett who imo is a better pick up then Saad and Williams purely on the fact he's come from an extremely well drilled culture and we'll give them great two way running in their midfield. From our perspective I simply cannot see how we please a Fremantle due to their high demand. Jackson and Brayshaw are completely off limits so that just needs to be ruled out. If Cerra wants a smooth transition home then Cerra for Carltons pick 6 makes sense in a way.

Simon Goodwin named Senior Coach of the Year
Just a fantastic achievement. Well done Goody and thank you for bringing us so much joy to us in what's been an extremely dark year for all.

Adam Cerra (Fremantle) “Richmond is as far out of the race as any other team. You can’t say 100 per cent because there can always be a late change.” “But my understanding with Cerra is that Carlton is still the club and that’s because Melbourne can’t get (the trade) done. “I can’t imagine a situation where Robbie D’Orazio and Paul Connors, his manager, allow him to nominate a club that he can’t get to. He will nominate a club that he can get to and at the moment that is Carlton, even though Melbourne has had a serious crack. There’s no draft pick they can offer and there’s not going to be any players they’re going to give up either.”

One thing I took out of that interview was Nick Reiwoldt is still [censored] off at St Kilda for giving him the flick.

Nathan Jones On The Couch tonight.
Watched it as well. Was brilliant content. You'd pay money to go hear them both talk about how success and culture is built. While I'm watching both Dimma and Clarko talk, my mind is drifting away that one day that could be Goodwin doing the exact same thing in a few years time.

GRAND FINAL: Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs
Tim English would have to be one of the softest ruckman I've seen in the AFL for a long time. Hasn't got it in him to rough up opponents.

Hoping Salem is just a light day due to managing his groins this year..

Jason Taylor mentioned on Cal Twomeys podcast few weeks back that they may look to add a young developing ruckman in the draft.

Peter Jackson interview on Sporting Life.
Really fascinating interview with Peter Jackson around his journey with the Melbourne Football Club. Talks about the period around Mark Neeld era and also the Paul Roos recruitment. Also talks about flying to Sydney to catch up with James McDonald and mend that relationship with him and inviting him back to the club. Said it was an emotional meeting with junior and pointed to having a lot of scarring that need to be repaired. Well worth a listen. https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=905242
