Buay Duac was one of our NGA guys right? Tall bloke that only played a handful of games for the Stingrays last year.
Anyone know much about him?
Yes correct. 198cm ruckman who only played a handful of games.

Hang on, so a thread in the ‘Melbourne Demons’ board on a WCE player is fine but a thread on the Melbourne Demons women’s team is moved from this thread and consigned to a board no one reads?
Doesn't make sense to me.

He's not going to be that great of a loss nor can I see him being in their best 22.
They've got some good talent coming through their midfield and I don't know where he fits amongst all that.

Is it not a serious question but? Why are we putting air time into a West Coast player on here?
Are we starting threads on every opposition player that gets an injury all of a sudden?

Genuinely thought we were bringing back the old forum footy matches..

Thanks to all the training reports.
Are there any of positional changes to note? I know there's the Tom McDonald down back but anything else?
Would like to see someone like a Jake Bowey get trialed in the midfield going into next year.

I don’t disagree with you but I’m interested in the ins and outs
if Fullarton McAdam and Tholstrup are in round 1 and JVR and Brown are available and Brown might be over injury then the selection committee will be earning its pay
I don't think Petty will be ready by round 1 so certainly opens up the door for Brown.

Does anyone have any info on him? Seen the info on Kalani White and that's exciting. Noah Yze seems like a late developer. Dazzle is usually good with this. Any info?
Will be turning 14 in January some time.
Still some water to go under the bridge, bur so far he's had a pretty good start to his small junior career.
A best and fairest for Cairns under 12s plus a top 3 finish in the league vote.
He's also represented QLD under 12s school boys team which is usually a good indicator that the kid can already play at a young age.
He's certainly a watch this space in years to come.

Yeah but dazzledavey36 is suggesting we bring in nine new players who have little to no experience at AFL level
I never suggest you bring them all in at once...
You're getting confused. Some of those 9 have already tasted AFL action

As mentioned, would love to see Kade Delarue and Kobe Shipp join Casey. Both have plenty to offer aside from being locals.
Have a feeling Shipp will be a late developer just like his father.

But why would we do this? We have to pick our best side and go all in for a premiership while Gawn and May are still at their peak
Because if we don't do this and start exposing some of our more promising kids then we'll fall completely off the cliff once the likes of May and Gawn retire.
Introducing the kids alongside May and Gawn will only benefit their development.

I think the presumption was that Dees were taking Windsor, so was never looking likely to get to 8.
I do think pace was on the agenda for them, which is why they were very keen on Fonti later on. He might have been their Windsor-lite.
Is that an actual fact or just based on your own opinion?

Sensible post with a long term view as opposed to many who think if we don’t win it in 2024 that’s it for a decade
Need to take one step back to then take two steps forward.

The group up my end are doing running overlapping handball drills.
Ricky Lever is in this group. If he’s not out next captain there’s something terribly amiss.
He's always been my number 1 preference for our next captain by a long way.
Glad others are starting to realise what an incredibly influential leader he is.

We won't miss the 8, but I don't think we make top 4 in my honest opinion.
There is still concerns with our forward line which obviously got shown out during the finals series.
There is also some concerns around Pettys injury. Speaking to a player this off season who I bumped into up here and he stated that the injury in itself was pretty significant and the club will take all precautionary measures. Reckons he might not be back in full training around mid to late February.. but that was purely his own opinion.
I also have concerns around our midfield and ruck depth. Last year we did have Harmes, Grundy, Jordon ready to step in immediately when needed, but this year our depth is very thin with young players like Woewodin who are still unknown at senior level. We've been very lucky that the likes of Petracca, Viney and Brayshaw have been playing consistently each week for the past 2 years, but they're also getting older as well so the hits and knocks will probably get to them at some stage next year.
The way I see it is that next year will be a year where we'll take a step back purely because I think we'll focus on getting some games into kids such as Howes, Turner, Adams, Woewodin, Laurie, Windsor, Tholstrup, AMW and even Will Varrell with the hope that we can then catapult again with a rejuvenated list for the next few years.
I would be okay with this if it means it gives us the opportunity to extend our premiership window for the next few years.

Photo gallery is up.
Jefferson certainly looks like he's added a little bit of weight on.
Sparrow is a pure ball of muscle.
Blake Howes looks like he's put on a bit of weight as well.
Woey looking very fit.

I see Collingwood have invited 204cm ex Port Adelaide ruckman Brynn Teakle down for a chance to trial with them over the summer for a spot on their rookie list.
You would think this would have made far more sense from a list perspective.
Of course out of all teams it had to be Collingwood with the smart list decision here.....

Farewell James Jordon
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
Debatable.
Look, I don't see much upside in Jordon from a skill set point of view, but let's not pretend that Sparrow is much better by foot. Both just as poor as one another.
Whilst Sparrow has more penetration and distance in his foot skills, he also had some horrendous turnover by foot in some games. He's not much different to how Brent Moloney was.
To be honest, I see more upside in Taj Woewodin then I do in Sparrow and Jordon.
Like you, I am also hoping Laurie comes on as a mid/forward because he could really add to the mix with his skill set and agility.
