In the 2022 semi final against the lions, Max was killing them in the ruck and the Lions put Fullarton into the centre and he nullified Max and beat him with his athleticism. Was a factor with the Lions winning.
I have high hopes for Fullarton if given a good go at AFL level. He has the ability to produce some very good footy
I wouldn't say he nullified Max considering it was actually Darcy Fort who was wo was playing majority of ruck for the night. Fullarton had 4 hitouts for the whole night lol..
Max was very close to pulling out of the game due to his injury he was carrying and he's even admitted this.
Had to play under extreme duress throughout the game and it showed as the night went on.
It was more Max playing in pain more then anything. Fullarton had zero influence on the night.

Serious problem we have....
We all saw Max go down against Brisbane and fortunately we had Grundy to cover.
If something similar happens we do not have backup that can play a whole game as ruck.
Fullerton....zero games in 2023. Look at his highlights reel on the club website...no rucking shown! He is a forward.
Schache....not selected when we needed either a forward or ruck. Tells you where he is at.
That just leaves TMac or JVR. We need both of them to be up forward not getting beaten up around the ball. We fell into this trap last year, by robbing the forward line to fill gaps in the ruck.
Verrall played 9 games at Casey after injury. He showed promise.....and you can't want more from a kid in his first year. But it was his first year, and naturally he is a LONG way from AFL rucking duties. Unfortunately, he is also only 199cm which is not in his favour for rucking at the top level as well.
Houston...we have a problem!
Agree 100%
I thought a mature back up ruckman was a much bigger need then Marty Hore and made more sense.
If Gawn goes down then, I would hate to see how Fullarton/Schache would go against a English/Luke Jackson/ Rowan Marshall and even Grundy... eek.

Geelong steal George Stevens at pick 58. Ollie Wines clone. He’s got AFL quality and could play round 1.
That's why he's lasted all the way to pick 58.
The game is going away from big bodied midfielders like Ollie's Wines and it's absolutely no coincidence Wines has struggled the past few years because thr game has gone quicker and less contested.
He'll play senior footy but he'll be found out very quickly for his poor athletic ability and zero speed.

Or we could just simply forget about him considering he's in GWS colours now and we throw our full support behind Tholstrup instead......

Well tbh he can’t really knock any player and the other guys always find something good to say about each draftee too.
It is just a love fest.
The better appraisals would come privately from other club’s recruiters.
Which is fine.
But he really does need to be realistic with his player comparisons.

It is quite funny.
Have to hope he doesn’t need to mention Kynan Brown, until the ND concludes tonight.
Then he can rate him highly as a Dees’ rookie.
He compared Brown to Errol Gulden.. 🥴
I like shifter, but I think it's time for him to retire.

Do we have any other spots on the Rookie List apart from Kynon Brown?
Nope. Especially as we have filled that spot with Marty Hore.

He reminds me of Caddy when he's forward and Sparrow when he's in the midfield. It's that power type player that has the ability to win or halve big contests in the middle or in the forward half. He's a very 'Melbourne' pick. At least, a JT type.
I'm intrigued what the wraps on him were at the end of last year to make him worthy of a top 5 selection, @Gator. Any insight there? Obviously, he's fallen down the order a bit due to injury, but to be worthy of top 5 talk, you'd have to have some elite attributes outside of mere power.
He was a genuine power forward at colts level as an under-age playe last year kicking over 30 goals in a season. My understanding was that he was dominating that level and there was expectation of organic growth in his game.
Decided to he wanted to do a pre season with the seniors and got rewarded with senior footy all year playing as a high half forward and sometimes even defensive forward.
Battled some groin injuries which impacted him mid year.

Honestly I haven't watched a draft for awhile. Only tuning in tonight to see our picks 7 & 11
The whole draft set up coverage is the worse.

My god why did it take so long for west coast to tell us they're picking Harley?
Also what happened to the clubs reading out the players they are drafting
Where have you been?
They haven't done this for a number of years.

Anyone have access to the sun? They have a live late-mail article and headline suggests a deal for Curtin could involve 3-clubs...
Edit: could be junk q&a style blog with suggestions from fans

I trust our recruiters as they have a very good strike rate, but my gut says you shouldn’t take small fwds or outside mids inside the first 10 and should be looking at an outside mid only with our with our 2nd pick. We should be looking for a Steven May replacement given Petty is also likely out in a year or 2 as well. Curtin seems like the ready made replacement and seems highly regarded or Caddy if we want more fwd options.
So you wouldn't take Nick Daicos or Josh Kelly inside the top 10?
Strange....

I wonder if the Cats would consider 11 plus our future first to move up to 8?
if so a combination of Windsor and Leake/Caddy/O'Sullivan/Curtin looks pretty good.
Giving up way too much just to move 3 spots?
I can guarantee one of those guys will still be available at our pick as a slider
By the looks of it, the club is set on Tholstrup.
