  1. Excuse my ignorance on judicial procedure but wouldn't they have already needed to have been served the subpoena? All reports are saying they will not appear, unless the subpoenas come from the hearing itself then I don't think they are coming.
  2. Salem will surprise the comp, barely anyone has heard of him but his silky skills and composure will come to the fore. With the help of Bugg, and Kennedy in the middle I can see Tyson being freed up more and having a great year reasserting himself as a great up and coming player. Bernie may also get off the leash more and have an even more outstanding year than he did, especially as Jones will hopefully be free of the neck injury which kept him back last year.
  3. Any one else noted the proliferation of articles in the Hun over the last couple of days telling us all about how hard WADA have it and how badly done by the players have been. is really quite sad.
  4. Hi Demons64. Welcome. I hope you enjoy your time here.
  5. The song was from a play and was written in the early 1900's. Yes it is patriotic towards the american flag, yes it comes from America, but it is not steeped in military marching history over there so why not use it. The Hawks have the even more american Yankee Doodle as there theme song and you don't see them about to change it.
  6. Even attempting to change the song would have Bartlett out on his arse in a flash. DO NOT TOUCH IT! Not sure I can make it clearer.
  7. Hopefully the Cranbourne team that is in it morphs into a Casey team to align with us. That could then be a direct feeder to the national team we must have when that starts.
  8. Nice but of banter from JK! Jay Kennedy Harris ✔ @kennedyharrisj Loving the new logo!! @melbournefc Has a lot of @cpetracca7 about it, fresh, stylish and a tad simple #cp5 pic.twitter.com/uM93MoZybf Retweeted by Melbourne FC
  9. The blue certainly looks better then the red.
  10. I am not talking about ratings or even time slots though, simply that we get shafted due to having home games against the little clubs and interstate teams far more than the big clubs do. That should not be reliant on winning or TV or any other external factor, it should be a simple part of the fixture than they are shared around to share the gate taking more evenly. As it stands the big clubs make money of us when we play them but we are not afforded the opportunity to do the same from them in return. That is not equal or fair. If the AFL were serious about equalisation and getting teams off the teat then this would be the first thing to change, either share them around or split the gate 50/50. That gives every club the same chance to make money adn would increase our profits dramatically.
  11. Handing us our fair share of home games against the big clubs is hardly dependent on us winning games, or it shouldn't be, it is simply part of a fair and equitable league. hahahahahahhaa, sorry I forgot we are talking about the AFL so fair and equitable go out the window and join other words such as integrity and transparent.
  12. Like Daisies top. Will be interesting to see if that is a womens top of an option for the blokes to.
  13. Daisy is one of the greatest assets this club has, she plays great football, is a great leader, has a passion for the club, can speak well in public, and is easy on the eye. The power of that combination in bringing in sponsors and new supporters, especially those of the fairer sex, is immense. Great to see the club involving her in the marketing and putting her side by side with the mens captain. Makes me proud to be a Dee with the initiative and passion we have shown for the womens game!
  14. The half where there is no monetary gain from winning. Sports such as Sailing, Rowing, Fencing etc. Don't trust anything where a golden ticket out of adversity might be involved (eastern block weigh lifting for example), or good sponsorship dollars and a high profile life. I bet you can't name me one of the gold winning yachts people from the last olympics, and Australia had a few, it was our most successful sport in fact.
  15. Chippa was consistently good at stopping his opponent, that is his only value but he did show it for quite a few years. What was inconsistent was his rebound and disposal. It depends what you want from the defender as to whether he gets in or not as Rivers was far better at the latter two aspects.
  16. Surprised Chippa didn't get the nod, he is a better 'stopper' than Rivers but does lack in disposal. Wonder how close he got.
  17. This is a WADA matter and the only say the IOC have on WADA is through pressure to find certain things. That is a real possibility but hopefully WADA stick to their guns and hold up the standards we all want to see. Not all the Olympics is full of drugs either, it is probably only half the sports that have any real issue at all.
  18. I don't see the time slot of the fixture as anywhere near as important as who you play home games against, that is where we truly get shafted and TV ratings or our member numbers have very little if anything to do with that. The simple solution is to split all gate takings 50/50.
  19. I was a fan of the now old one, prefer it to the new one. I do like the new one though and the simplicity will serve better when looking for new people who may not have understood the relevance of all the parts of the old one. The new one is also better at linking the club to the city, which is a good goal. Love the fact the club has been so out there in the marketing of this though, almost seems like we now support an entirely different team, one with confidence and who is brash! Here's hoping it translates across to the field.
  20. There is a lot more to coaching that just the game plan, so no Roos is still in charge. If you watch the interview with Macca that was done near the end of the season he talks about having the wise heads around to ensure the changes are sustainable, wise heads to tame the exuberance of youth if you like. That is where having Roos and Macca on board is a great thing, Goodwin gets to run with his game plan and slowly take over the reigns while these two provide a guide and quell any unsustainable short term fixes Goodwin may want to put in place.
  21. I read somewhere the other day that Roos will be doing the cultural coaching and Goodwin will be putting in place the game plan etc. Roos was bought in as more as a culture changer than anything and he has done well at that, will be interesting to see how much Goodwin does the game day coaching this year. By the end of the year I would hoe he is doing the vast majority and taking on far more media responsibility as well. Roos should be the guiding hand this year as he was with Horse at Sydney.
  22. Grant Baler in the Hun has written an article pointing out that we may actually be only at the tip of the ice berg. Am on a phone so can't post link (don't know how) but worth a read although it doesn't say much we don't know. Surprised it got past his boss!
  23. My post seems to have been added to yours. I can't fix it as I am on a phone.
  24. I am one of those Australians but I also know people who work long long hours in all sorts of jobs and sacrifices are made. That doesn't make it a chore, that makes it what it is, that is reality. To denigrate it as not a real job when it involves real sacrifices, but also huge rewards, is nonsense. Makes you look like you have a huge chip on your shoulder.
