  1. Particularly stupid if it's $ for $?! Even if it's 'better' than $ for $, it's disingenuous calling it a '$1million' prize. It will be effectively less, possibly significantly.
  2. The Ws are contributing 8 points a game. Without them we don't beat Brisbane. Or Collingwood! 🤮
  3. Good to see Harry2 getting another couple of overs.
  4. I posted the info below about 12 months ago, HTD; a timetable that would suggest the answer to your question might not yet quite be known. The big change, of course, is the Commonwealth games situation, and a further year of the State's financial situation. The 2027 Rugby World Cup remains as a timing factor.
  5. if Caulfield's a thing: If Porz, Rennick and Roffey can't swing a deal, not sure who can.
  6. May I join in? The problem being in Melbourne for this 'Adelaide' boy? The long drive.
  7. Playing right into the AFL's playbook. 'Nothing to see here'.
  8. For a moment there I thought, [insert plummy voice] 'And now we return to normal service...' But, Luci, thanks for pressing steadily ahead down the Lane.
  9. This thread has morphed into Memory Lane. Very nice; thank you, everyone (you all know who you are 😊 ) Guess it's good to get 'em out there before they disappear! Yoyos re-appeared every year through primary school and into secondary. Clever, Coca-Cola Company. Their annual return, along with that of marbles (in the myriad ways they could be played) was, for a child, actually more certain than death and taxes.
  10. Possibly that last word, BBO, provided other deteriorating factors allow brain and appearance to provide the memory and opportunity, respectively, to attempt the second-last word...
  11. Notwithstanding the other, self-deprecating responses, I must stand up for myself and say...well, and say...well... Oh, look, there's a puppy!....
  12. He also heard one of his co(-honours)-cast had fallen in da water! (Shane Gould or Dawn Fraser, perhaps? Or Alan Bond!)
  13. Fair enough, and 👏. But, damn; Eccles took me down a 'sort of correct' path - that of honoured people. I'm now an authority on Nobel Prize winners...
  14. This debate seems to be heavily influenced by perceptions of how playing in ASP - most notably the travel, particularly if the following match involves a difficult game, standard-, timing-, and/or location-wise - affects the team's performance. In this - as in so many other issues! - we 'Landers are prone to 'project' (guilty as charged, Your Honour!) The players' actual views would be interesting. It wouldn't surprise me, I must say, if they enjoyed the change of scenery, figuratively and literally (particularly in and around ASP) and the stimulation that travel, with friends, provides. On the other hand, I can recognise the possibility such distraction or stimulation might negatively affect performance. particularly that oft-referred-to '1%'. This should be manageable, however. I can also recognise supporters' responses to a 'lost' home game, if replacement arrangements aren't equal or better for them.
  15. Sling him a Jaguar. At least a Hertz one.
  16. ...and/or that GWS one!
  17. From the AFL website: 'The McClelland Trophy...[is]...to include the AFLW competition, with...[the]...prize money to be shared between the club and all its players.' [my italics x 2] So, girls and boys (and 'club').
  18. ...never mind all the harrying!
  19. Fact check, someone?
  20. The women's games are worth 8 points, so, presuming Dees and Lions win this week, the current 4-point difference means % will be irrelevant in that million dollar game. There's still a very outside chance Pies could 'Bradbury'. Our good % would help there. No.
  21. ...by which I presume you mean the full name features in both teams? I can see no other way to interpret your 'clue'... p.s. Contemplating changing my name, à la @Cranky Franky, to Crabby Trabby for these darned things!
  22. I go back beyond Sunnyboys to the original(? - very early '60s) orange fruit drink tetrapak, the 'Jubbly'. I also go back as far as sixpence a bottle, exchanged at the Torquay (summer source of lots of bottles) milk bar for a Peter's strawberry cone, with real(?) strawberry bits.
  23. Your secret's safe with me, Red: I think you left a tiny full stop in that 'best work', sullying its perfection. Not too late for a final edit?
  24. Initially, I guess... 😁
