  1. It actually got to 49-88 in the 3rd term! A Melbourne home game, sold to the 2001-premier opposition - that worked well for once!? That Johnstone goal - the very difficult made to look very easy. Chris Fagan in our coaches box. "A player of the future, Chris Lamb". Always be wary of that label... "The new David Schwartz, Paul Wheatley". Ditto-ish... Neale Daniher... And, yes, a very nice COVID-permitted activity!?
  2. Some nice little insights there (for me, anyway): the reasons and dynamics of boundary-line coaching (including the happy shares about Choco and his influence 'throughout the whole building'), the collegiate coaching response at half time, being able to take the players individually to their good places, trust in the box, the degrees of insight into the opposition (and willingness to reveal them), the 'good teammate' elaboration (relating, communicating, acting, body language, etc), the Jordon and Sparrow development process towards 'good habits' and 'mastery'. A somewhat muted response to the Melksham question; I don't think Jake does have any photos...?
  3. FLAG FAVOURITES Fatal (forgive us...)
  4. 1987 as per previous respondents, Boots. That year, with the night premiership as huge underdogs, Robbie's last year, the hectic late landing into 5th, the two huge finals wins and the dramas of the 3rd, is more memorable to me than '88, which may have had moments of favouritism? From a bit of googloogling, I see that, coming off a close '87 prelim, and a feeling we might have done better against Carlton than the Hawks did, we opened at 10-1 flag odds and evens finals odds. We then topped the ladder in Round 7, beating Hawthorn in that round, and Round 8, when we sat 7-1. The Hawks then had a run but we closed to within a game in 2nd in Round 16. They then steamed away to finish 3 games clear while we late-season-slumped to 5th (again!) starting with a loss to Hawthorn.
  5. Time I got out of my observer's chair! 6. Number 11 5. Number 5 4. Number 13 3. Number 25 2. Number 9 1. Number 36 Apologies Number Back Half and Number Midfield Rotators
  6. Nearly got to Perfect Uneditorialisation! (looking at you, Spirit of Norm?) Perhaps that nirvana will be achieved in late September?...
  7. Smacked(!) of Yates on Brereton 1989, particularly against the backdrop of their targetting of Max last year (he rose WAY above it though, this time!)
  8. Sparrow on Rich??? How about some interest in Hipwood on Gawn 10 seconds in, then!!
  9. Yeah, I was surprised how calm I was in the first half. Something has pivoted and it's not a bad feeling!
  10. Six (count them, SIX) games inside the 8! Yeah, I know top 2 is 'the thing' but that's nice to contemplate...
  11. Shout out to the 5000 predominantly Dees crowd given credit by Max in his post-game. Worth a coupla goals, it seems!?
  12. Record number of 'Gameday' posts at 3/4 time? Some game!
  13. 'Pert'inent 'breaking news' at 1/2 time, as foreshadowed by Pert during pre-game.
  14. We were 3-6 when we passed 50k in 2019 then had only 2 more wins before the 'close of books' after round 19. So COME ON, you missing two-and-a-half-thou (at least)!
  15. Fail, me: meant 'Top-Of-De'
  16. Foreshadowing COVID contingencies, Walker? No worries for MFC, according to Max; 'Anyone, anywhere.'
  17. It's time for a pun-t, it seems! Top-Of-The. As to numbers, keep Brown.B. company? 51 & 52
  18. Great news. It's been the sort of career you want to go on forever! She's not unfamiliar with a flag or three, and she's evidently got an assured and interesting career ahead of her, so I imagine a motivation to go on is to be part of a flag that her teammates get.
  19. Max on RSN: "We fly out Thursday" As an afterthought to naming 5 NSW/Qld venues, "Optus Stadium"
  20. Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere, but have the Lions been able to have a normal week of preparation while we have presumably been able to have next to none, which situation continues at least until we get to un-locked-down territory i.e., no earlier than tomorrow and possibly not until Friday?
  21. Again thanks, Dazzle. But I'm afraid I'm a failure there, too. I have a $50 Kayo voucher from my son, but when I went to redeem it on line with its million-digit code (and what's the story with that?!), anally checked and re-checked, it wasn't recognised. I have a short e-fuse, so Kayo remains out of reach then. For the time being...
  22. The 'high horse' was me, by the way - pejoratively, as in 'Get off your...' - not Stephen or Tom. With 3 face-palm reactions (though I'm not quite clear what these are saying...) I think I now regret revealing my feelings. Hurry up and be over, COVID.
  23. Having looked that up, I'll take that on the chin, Your Honour. I did try to be balanced, given my starting point of a perception, and I did want to focus on swinging arms. Fail, though?
  24. Thanks, Dazzle; yes I do, but being an old-fart non-Foxer and regional (i.e. sparrows-fart edition) paper-version paper reader, 'that' show was the first opportunity of visual reporting of Friday night's delightful outcome. My viewing was a one-off and, as per my original post, it shall remain that way!? And I did restrain from venting there (though I did own up to venting here!?) - I just asked. Also, my beefs were not about the actual non-reporting; they were that Jones falsely dangled a 'stay with us' hook and lied at the end that they had delivered. And I did acknowledge I was on that less-than-admirable (as in 'Get off your...) high horse' ?
  25. "It was an accident". This is another 'high horse' one for me. As I posted at the time, the direction and look in Hawkins's eyes indicated otherwise to me. Maybe the damage was not intended, but the action was, I believe. And with that intent came the risk of the damage. Unless you are very clear about its target and its impact, within fairness, the rules and safety, a swinging arm is not on. I'm glad May can see it (?) as he does; presuming Hawkins is the bloke May thinks he is, I'm thinking at least part of Hawkins's motivation to apologise was his recognition of a degree of malice in his action.
