  1. "eek two or three more years..." Tom? Eek indeed!
  2. I'd be in the 'sad / whatever's best for Nev / concern for effect on remaining players' camp. Over on their board, I expected to find universal "What thu?!" but they seem not totally against it, though pretty luke warm! Themes seem to be his fit for an all-or-nothing go at 2021, and like-for-like replacement. Also mention of playing forward. And getting a good person (?DeeSpencer) in an area where they have been battling to prove they're alright?...
  3. Jeez, isn't Membership supposed to be core business for a CLUB, which I think is in the name of both organisations?! G.Pert has certainly made a big thing of it in COVID-20! Has anyone emailed Pert directly on this? (I'm not affected; financial constraints many years ago meant I had to choose and I went the 'DrysdaleD path'?...)
  4. His interview after the Fremantle (Sydney?) loss confirms Christian tells it like it is. So his NAB piece here seems like an insight into how players at this top level might actually fundamentally feel: that 'success' lies in getting there, being there, performing there, excelling there, staying there, enjoying there, on a weekly basis; that 'ultimate' success to them may be a happy (and rare) consequence, rather than a driver, of their week-in-week-out, career-long efforts directed at the more fundamental success? Supporters' focus is a little different, of course?...
  5. On a serious note, Brown vs TMac?How much different was Brown's 2020 form from Tom's? Can all Brown's fall be blamed on others? Can all Tom's fall be blamed on him?
  6. *cough* Chris Dawes (Just being a smartie; I actually didn't mind his contribution. ...and there goes my cred.)
  7. I did Sarge n you beat me to it!? Yep, so many players, weren't there! Jacko gave my kids a twinkle of interest but Stinga finally sold them on the Dees. They've regretted it pretty much ever since, mind you...?
  8. And Demonland going for our 'second Firsts' with increasing attention and appreciation. Nice! (Foundation Member)
  9. ...with his right foot, perhaps, as you say 58er!
  10. As a 60-year supporter of the club, regardless of 'ultimate' (IS it, though?) success, I can't help but have special regard for players applying similar, unshakeable loyalty - with the bonus of a healthy income! - in the relatively small number of years that is their playing life. So I'm in the "Great news!" camp. 36 goals in 135 games; that's something to work on though...
  11. From the club's website, our AFLW list manager Todd Patterson is saying "This year’s pool is strong (sic) than ever before." The exposed form must be a year old though? Re interstate players, this aspect is influenced by prospective draftees being able to nominate state/s they will go to. Anyway, I agree with WWSW; good luck to all the girls. And it's nice having TWO seasons to look forward to!?
  12. What's everyone's collective memories of the last time/s this amount of media and D'land speculation on 'significant result X' DIDN'T end with X resulting? I'm thinking there might have been quite a few??
  13. If Mahoney is going, it gives me shudders of memories of brutal corporate life when the club's website uses him as reporter of, and commenter on, the recent re-signings, with "WE look forward to..." And, re the review, it IS Tom Morris / Fox sports (I know, I know!) but...
  14. Latest showing when I open link is yesterday's "We're going backwards"?... Help needed by this dinosaur! didnt see the more recent posts
  15. I've been looking for somewhere to acknowledge the relatively honest, perceptive, enlightening and raw analysis Christian Petracca did in his post-match (oh that Goodwin would speak that way!) Tracc is with you, 3183, at 1:30-1:35 in the interview. Of the apparent many issues with the coaching, is fun-sucking another?
  16. Indeed, Kev! In fact, seeing the names Wells, Alves, Thompson and Jolly, could a fair team be made of the exports who then tasted the premiership success we have missed? Throw in Chippa and the name-escapes-me fella who came to us with a Kangas flag and then got 3 with the Loyons. Well, maybe an AFLX team anyway? Who else? p.s. I don't begrudge Stan Alves. That North premiership was just a little bit Melbourne for me in the dark 70s...

  18. Haven't read all 7 pages here, so not sure where the TMac consensus(?) has got to (and I also couldn't get the game), but he rates special mention on the Club's 'Stats That Matter' commentary. Changes anyone's position?
  19. Deever, no! Elephant...Room...
  20. Cue "discussion" of Us v Lions = 1 goal, Bombers v Lions 10 goals?...
  21. Goodwin in his presser pretty clearly put the responsibility on (our) Bailey, in a 'poor-discipline-the player(s)-will/must-learn-from-it' way. NO reference to any umpiring aspect...
  22. Thanks for the 'management' of my post on the O'Dea/Cordner/4 others trade tabling news, LH. Player / Team 'I want / we want' always a challenge; more surprising, though, when the player is one judged captain material by the club. They have misread each other? My default position is to fear that the club has issues, though I find "really" and "big", with respect to "valued" and "role", a bit 'non-team'... A bit of a risk expecting these to be delivered somewhere else, too...
  23. Women's team trades (Sorry to appropriate this men's team thread - and I don't know the protocols there - but I'm not confident to start a thread, and I'm not sure how much interest there is anyway? Alternatively, sorry if this is somewhere already on another thread! Anyway...? What do people think of yesterday's 'Age' report that 2xAllOz and occasional captain Elise O'Dea and MFC 'royalty' Harriet Cordner, as well as Aliesha Newman, Bianca Jakobbson, Maddy Guerin and Katherine Smith are all 'on the table', to "reinvigorate our list" and "improve our draft position". A fair chunk of the squad! And the first four are linked to specific clubs. What could this say about the club (if they want out, though I'd be surprised...) or what effect might the shopping around have on the playing group (if they don't)? It strikes me that draft position is a bit of a crapshoot this year anyway, with even less exposed form than usual? And what "reinvigoration" is needed, given the presumable spur of last season's unfinished business? Thoughts?
  24. Good news for us Fields 'locals', if they're going to allow spectators. Also, then, if they can wear the MFC jumper (save for BH(?), the other teams have non-AFL strips)
  25. Fair point, Zeph - 2 already has us well on track for a number-sequenced 10 this year!?
