  1. I just had another look. Tom Mitchell is 2. Either I'm really going mad, or you are.
  2. I'm clearly going mad. But so are they if they think Stevie J should be ahead of him.
  3. And yet they overlook the best of them all - Nat Fyfe.
  4. vandenBerg is definitely best 22. I know Hunt's faults, but it would be great if he has a big year. Oscar Baker has the outside size and traits we need. It will be an interesting summer for him.
  5. You're the snowflake that sent me the whiny PM. Some supporters can dispassionately discuss players. It's called maturity. It doesn't mean you "hate" anyone. Jones played a consistent year, but it lacked brilliance. Then again, his whole career has lacked brilliance, which is why he has never made the AA squad of 40. He played plenty of games at a consistent level, which will reward a player like Jones in a B&F, especially when he plays nearly every game. Mids who are more important than Jones by year's end ? Harmes, Brayshaw, Oliver, Viney, and vandenBerg on a wing. Petracca is more effective when he has stints on ball. Jones will remain in the conversation for a rotation through the midfield, but he's not a great outside mid, so it's fair to question his role in the side moving forward. I'm struggling to squeeze him into a fully fit 22. There are others you'd prefer on a wing, which is an area of the ground where we struggle, and there are inside mids ahead of him. For now he has a spot on the pine.
  6. He's worth pick 6 to us. Our days of piling up kids are gone. We're trying to win a flag in 2019. If he was a 27 year old in an open draft this year I doubt he goes top 10.
  7. The more he was told not to do it due the club's history the more determined he became.
  8. You don't understand how Goodwin ticks if you even think he'd contemplate leaving for "big bucks" at the end of 2019.
  9. Angus Brayshaw showed some really promising signs in his first year (2015). Due to injuries and concussion issues his next two years were disappointing. He lost his aggressive attack on the footy and just didn't look the same promising player. Demon Andrew, or whatever he's now called, potted him every second week. When he finally got some confidence and continuity in his game and was played in his best position (on-ball) he shone. You don't lose your natural talent. I'm looking forward to seeing what Kolodjashnij can do with confidence in his body. At 23 he's the perfect age to come to the club.
  10. He went to primary school around the corner at St Mary's (with Bailey Smith).
  11. The difference between Kolodjashnij and the Viv Michies of this world is that Kolodjasnij was a genuine top 10 talent. At 190cm with good speed and a lovely left foot kick there are already AFL attributes for a club with good development to work with. Judging Kolodjashnij on any output in 2018 on the back of concussion issues and the demotivating workplace that was the Gold Coast Suns isn't the smartest reasoning. The fact that he came second in the 2015 B&F behind Ablett in just his second year shows his high level talent. His Brother, who wasn't considered to be as talented as him and went at a pick in the 40s, just finished 8th in Geelong's B&F. I reckon Kolodjashnij is a great get by the club and I'm very confident he can become an important player.
  12. Canterbury Nth Balwyn.
  13. Hannan was a VFL listed player. He had never been on an AFL list.
  14. Don't know what I'd do without you. Thanks
  15. He and his Dad Nick are rusted on Hawks. His Dad inherited The House of Golf business. Anyone remember The House of Golf ad 10 years ago when a skinny blond bloke was looking up from a deep bunker ? His Dad. The ad was played on loop. My Boy played at East Malvern Knights with Bailey when he was about 8. Even then Bailey was fast and strong. Although I thought his skills lacked a bit of polish. I'm probably a hard marker. I reckon an interstate club should be nervous about taking Smith. Who knows when, but I reckon he's a monty to come back at some stage. Probably to his beloved Hawks.
  16. I don't mean to offend, but reading Frost on a wing suggestions is the ultimate *facepalm moment for me. He's a behind the ball player and that's it. He doesn't have the smarts or skills to play anywhere else.
  17. I don't think our midfield will have the maturity to get us across the line in 2019. 2020 on-wards for me.
  18. Gold Coast will win at least 2 games, more likely 3.
  19. There's no way May goes no.1 this year. I rate him highly and think our team/list is more balanced with May over Hogan, but he wouldn't go near no.1.
  20. Firstly, I doubt anyone here needs a history lesson on the 2 win/54% 2013 team. And secondly, it was still the wrong decision. Kelly was very good from the outset.
  21. No mate, this isn't "hindsight". We all knew how good Kelly was, although some mistakenly thought he was soft. It was written up straight away in the media that we'd stuffed up. That said, I jumped on the Tyson/Salem deal as you want to trust the club. Kelly was as smooth as Egyptian cotton. My Brother and I were dead keen months out.
  22. In hindsight. At the time most thought Carlton had overreached taking Cripps where they did.
  23. However you want to slice it or dice it we made a mistake. Taking Billings would have been just another blunder. I know why we did it, but we should have kept pick 2 and taken Kelly. It is what it is.
  24. It's watching him at training, at Casey and at AFL level. It comes to me a bit quicker, chap. I grew up with the game.
  25. The main difference between Townsend and Bugg ? One is as hard as a cat's head and the other as soft as butter. Townsend will have low disposal numbers due to the way he was played, which was as an undersized second marking tall who played with pressure and made the most of low scoring opportunities. He's also a very accurate shot at (not on) goal. Do we need him ? Doubtful. I'd have him as depth, but he won't want that. He wants AFL game time.
