Well, Good luck Juice. I will cheer loud for you if you get a game. Not sure how you managed it, but well done anyway. Go forth and grab your final chance at the club.

Jury is out on Strauss. He does have that Halo of a top 20 pick, but to date he has not lived up to expectations. I say we give him this season to show something. If he doesn't, next season will be his last. Personally, I am hoping for another Matty Whelan type of of Strauss. If he gets the "ticker" right, I think he has the pace and skills to get there. At present I think Blease has a bit more to prove than Strauss.
-
He will not win the Coleman because we are not a big scoring team. He should [censored] in about 60 goals this year though. Buddy could win it this year.

Could just see if Michael Tuck senior is wanting to come out of retirement, His 400 odd games would go nicely for the team averages of games played.... I wouldn't expect we would contend for another 2-3 seasons, but I would expect some consistent finals appearances starting from this season.

Only two players who are currently fit have a big enough engine to run with Goodes. 1. Bartram 2. Dunn Bartram is too short and not quite strong enough. He is quickish, but not Goodes quick. Dunn gives away a slight bit of speed, but has the strength to keep Goodes honest (i didn't say match strength because keeping Goodes honest is the best we can hope for). Dunn is also a solid tagger for his size. Let Dunny run with him and we will see where that takes us. We don't have a "Goodes Stopper", so there is no right answer here. Just cross our fingers who ever gets the job can keep him under wraps. Maybe 2011 will be the year where Goodes slows down, and we roll the swannies!!

I have also seen my fair share of rebuilds, as has my father who was around for the last few premierships. I am 27 years old, and have not suffered as long as many. But I can honestly say that I have never seen a list with this much young talent at the club ever. My father in his late 50's agree with this, and even though he has suffered he agrees that these kids could actually deliver the goods instead of just filling out the numbers. I am not here to do a "rah-rah" about the club. The fact is we are better placed in terms of talent than we have been in decades. This doesn't guarantee success, but it gives us a bloody good chance to raise a cup if the other teams cannot match our talent when it matures. The waiting game truly sucks, and I am right with all of you who want some success now. But a part of me actually does buy into the rebuild this time around. So for ONE more season, I will watch the club and coach put games into kids for the betterment of the club. We have a young list, and we have a long way to go. If we get there, I look forward to drinking a beer with each and every one of you.

We won't be 0-4, simple. And IF we were, we know how this story goes. We play the kids, and hope that next season will be better. The only difference at seasons end would be that the club would cull more players over the age of 26 (anyone not considered a required player would not get a contract over 26), and would probably put Bailey in the gun. The dees will be good this year. Have some faith.

We might see a couple this year get elevated. Evans gets the nod to be first off the list.

I actually want to see Fev turn his career around. I was never someone with a god given talent for anything, but someone like Fev was gifted with the ability to play footy. Footy is all he knows, and I hope Fev can dig in deep and put this shocking string of events behind him. He needs help, not people shaking their fingers telling everyone "i told you so".

The side has not been picked yet, and Jack Watts will be on the selection table for round 1. I think people are too hard on Jack. He has worked hard and deserves a shot round 1 based on his pre season. What kind of message do you send to this kid by building him up for a big pre season then leaving him out of round 1?? There are 20 names on a list of players who have had a shocking nab cup/nab challenge game. But we move on, and see what players can deliver when it counts.
-
Of the players listed, there are probably a few on there that would not get a game this season if they were fit. Hoping Fitzy and Davis can get fit and push for a game. I think as far as rookies go Tommy, Newton and Campbell would have to be behind Michael Evans for a rookie promotion. I liked what I saw from Evans during the NAB Cup. He could be a find. Morton/Chip/Jordie will be missed, but hopefully our troops can cover them until they are 100%. All 3 currently reside in our best 22.

Is it just me, or is Wonna looking like he might struggle to get back in? Think about it. Smaller goal sneak players have popped up such as Jetta, Maric and Bennell. On top of that Wonna has had some personal hardships to deal with which has hurt his preseason. I think Wonna has a massive hill to climb, and the players ahead of him are becoming valuable to the 22 on a more consistent basis.

Dunn Pettard Bennell Jurrah Green Watts Trengove Sylvia Scully Grimes Garland Rivers Morton Frawley Macdonald Foll: Jamar Davey Moloney Int: Bail Jones McKenzie. Sub: Martin IN: Bail, Garland, Dunn OUT: Maric, Warnock, Gysberts Very hard to do. I can see the best 22 being more like a revolving door. All the boys will need to put in on the track. Although Maric is not in my best 22, he deserves to play Round 1 after a strong pre-season. If Dunn can pinch hit in the ruck, it could allow the Sub spot to be taken up by a midfielder.

The "panic" button is not allowed to be pressed during the pre-season. Feel free to hit it if we drop the first few games of the regular season.

Scruffy Seconds. (all of the above)

Bigfoot is real. Just announced by Eddie, and he has a reliable source. Sheedy in talks with Bigfoot's management to play on a 5 year 4 million dollar contract. This story will make it onto the HUNS front page tomorrow.

Sam is going to be one of those players that comes in round 4 and makes an impact. I can see no cloud over his future, he looks every bit a player that would be drafted early. It will take some time, but Blease will be a lock in this team by seasons end. Got to manage his workload, even if he is fit and ready to play, he needs to take small steps to get where he needs to go. Regular season is king!

Our list is too hard to access at this point. Half of our list has less than 50 games played against their names. With some of these players we won't know what we have got until after next season or beyond. Some names on that list that are not mentioned as "core" players could end up being the face of the MFC. We just don't know yet. At this point I would like to retain 90% of the current list for the next few seasons to see where they can go.

Chip is a machine. Guy is a flat out tank!

Scrap it. Too many injuries come about playing the NAB cup. Can derail a team before round 1 even comes around.
-
and thats why you don't get to far ahead of yourself...
Adzman replied to the fearless fozzle's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe the MFC should give out swords so fans can hara kiri after a preseason loss. Seriously, this place has way too much freaking drama. It is the nab cup. If you want a NAB cup that badly I am pretty sure one of the clubs who has won one over the past decade will have one at a garage sale with a 50c sticker on it. Keep the faith people. We have many ups and downs ahead, enjoy the growing pains. The worst is behind us. -
I thought Clint Bartram was solid all game. Dropping the game against Essendon was disappointing, but it was just a preseason game. The real test is a month away. For now, we hope the kids learn a few lessons about senior footy. Intensity needs to be matched if they are going to be a competitive outfit. I think this will come soon enough.

Beamers problem is he tries to do too much. Watch him closely. He ALWAYS shrugs the first tackle. 50/50 on second tackle, and if he gets to a 3rd tackle he is an 80/20 chance to get caught/dispossessed. He needs to find a link man after the first tackle. We haven't had too many good link men since Mr Woewodin. Someone that can be in the pack but find space to run ahead and create a play. Davey needs to be this player. Scully could be also if he doesn't [censored] off to GWS.

Couldn't care if we had a fluro pink jersey with a dancing flamingo on it. As long as we win premierships I couldn't care less what shade the freaking jumper is. Just be thankful you aren't a Hawks fan, their jumper looks like the inside train station toilet bowl.
