Maybe pat rafter should lend some of his "comfy undies" to Hazelby. Man, what a shocker, how did that one slip through to the keeper?
-
Beamer has gone from one of our top flight guys after one season, to a man on fringe. Still good enough to make it, but he really needs to do something in 2008 to keep his career from going off the rails. He has had a bad run, fingers crossed he gets sorted.

Can't wait to see the Menacing Ginger back in the red and blue! Bater is half the reason why I buy a membership, the guy is pure gold!
-
I think Dunny needs an extended Run in the forwardline. Lets be honest, he was recruited to be a key forward, why not develop him and see how he goes. In a few years time, Neita and robbo will be on the couch, we need a guy that can take the mantle at this seasons end. Newton did play outside the forwardline in Jnrs, however I doubt he has the pace to do so at the top level.

Lay it On the Line - What do you think of our players?
Adzman replied to w00dy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am just gonna come out and say this, feel free to say what you like about it. Daniel Bell is a MUST player for us. I don't know what he has to do to get the fans on board. He reads the play well, on the odd possie he can turn it over, but considering what he have I would rate him as one of our best backmen, and one we can use for the next 5-7 years. Call me what you want, but i have seen far worse backmen at this club to have been granted more slack than Belly. Bell is a keeper! -
BENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNY BENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNY Bring back the MEchaNoMaN I think there is always a spot for buckets against a tall forward. A Brad Johnson type will [censored] him, but a tall Kozi type, Benny gets the nod.

DAMN IT! PJ has been greatthis season. Poor bloody bloke has worked his backside off, and was looking like making it as our top ruck stock for 2009. I hate to see this happen to him, let us hope he can bounce back and return to form in 4-6 weeks. Jamar will get the nod.
-
Colin Sylvia makes me sad in pants.
-
Maric is a project player (so is Aussie, nearly fell off my chair when I heard he was playing- was great news!!!). Given Melbournes Struggles, I can see Bails throwing in a Smokey to let the old timers know they have to work for a spot. Something needs to happen to our forwardlin NOW, but Maric is the magic man for 2009!

Cam Bruce can be bloody awesome at times, and he was great against the cats today. He will not captain the side, but I am sure he will retire in red and blue. He is worth a roster spot any day of the week, even if he cannot string games together all the time. Cam Bruce is still a great player for the club....but he will not be our captain (MACCA!!!!!!!!!!! Why not J-MAC??)

Morton has shown us a little bit more about his game each week. The more I see him, the more I think he could be the real deal in a few years time. He will get plenty more chances to build on his nice start, and he could be the talking point of a dar season. I look forward to seeing how he goes, I will not get oo far ahead of myself as previous draft picks from years gone by (sylvia, CJ, brocky, petterd, dunn) have shown flashes, and the odd flat patch that can extend over a 10 game period.
-
Are time will come. We will rebuild, and have another chance at being an elite side. We have a few kids in the system, we just need to draft well over the next 2-3 drafts and we are cooking. I am an NBA fan and follow the celtics who have been a joke for the last 15 years. They are now top of the eastern conference and looking good for a title shot. The dees will rise again, like the celtics!
-
McLean - SHOULD and WILL PLAY!!! Can you blame a young player for lack of leadership?? HE will get his $hit sorted out and be one of our best again! I am not saying he was good, he was crap, but he is a good enough sort to bounce back. Bruce - Is not a backline tagger, and should be dropped if he is going to be used in this way. Has not performed, but is worthy of one more chance against the cats. White - Who are we going to replace him with? Jamar, Meeson. I say take the ghosts we know, over the ghosts we don't know. Whitey plays until we know Jamar or Mees can fit the mould. Miller - Can't play 4 quarters, needs to build up some confindence in the magoos. Bring in Rivo if he is ready to go or we try someone else. Robbo - Got someone better??? Who the hell do you want to replace him with, George Freakin Jetson??? Call him what you like, he is the best we have at that position and he plays.

Are you a member of the Melbourne Football Club?
Adzman replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Paid up and proud of it. The season might end up being a shocker, it will make it so much sweeter when we eventually do win a flag (it will happen one day). Sitting through every loss, will make a flag taste so much sweeter! -
Robbo is the Demons! Selfish my A$$, he is feeling every loss let me tell you! Sure, all players make a mistake here and there, but he is trying to make something out of nothing in the early stages of this dark season.

If Sylvia and green are thinking of jumping ship because things are getting hard, that says plenty about their character. To be considered a great player, you need to rise above it and help the club build some forward momentum. If what Grant thomas says is true, you can strip them of their jumpers right now. If you don't bleed red and blue when you are out there as an much loved player for our club, then they can [censored] right off. I like both the guys and think they still have value, but if they want to go all "scott thompson" on us and leave, the door will be open at seasons end. I have not given up on any of our list just yet, but I sure as hell am asking some questions like everyone else.
-
Doesn't matter who plays in the backline. We are gettting hammered all over the ground, the ball is coming in to the backline too easily and quickly. We could have the best backline the afl has to offer, and they would still get beaten due to our weaknesses all over the field. Carroll and Bell have tried their a##es off, and been good in patches. With the ball coming in less, our backline will look a little better, still not great, but better.

As far as next weeks side goes, we need to bring in someone who can kick to a target. Sadly, that means Garland is out, he turned the ball over far too often. Morton was not super, but he tackled and tackled and tackled- something some of our so called "leadership group" failed to do all day. When i young guy is out there chasing down every player even when the are 100 points down, that says somthing. Morton plays next week! We need a runner out of defence, bring in Matty whelan. He can hit a target, tackle and run. These ingredients were missing against the hawks, and run out of defence is much needed- it beats this handballing garbage that gets us into trouble. Rivers is a required man in the back six. He can hit a target, and reads the play well. Colin Sylvia must come in, adds polish and is a harder player to shut down than green/bruce. McLean was alright, needs a few more but he will step up after this belting. Brad Miller, ummmm I think it is time buckets had a run in the back 6 again. I still think Miller can develop.....I am just not sure how it can be done.

Woewodin was moved due to his massive 600K+ a year contract. Trappper was moved because the club could not rebuild arouind his style of play. Trapper will be of more use to the lions than Woey was to the pies. Woey was used as blind hope for magpie fans. Trapper will actually give something to the Lions fans. Even though we pay for him this year, it is something that needs to be done for this list to develop.
-
Sampi looks like he will miss the cut. Why not go after one of two of these overlooked guys (depending on who is available). Rookies are worth the gamble!
-
I have heard Morton is pretty handy, but I just HATE the fact he is a non Victorian. I really do, something eats away at me when you use a top pick on a kid who could turn around and break hearts when he becomes "home sick". Fingers crossed he is ready and WILLING to commit to the MFC.
-
Don't get me wrong, he still have a few years of good footy in him. Bails is looking for guys who wil play there BEST FOOTY in the next few years, and his Welsh's best years are well and truely behind him. He is good enough to push for selection with the dees this season, but his spot on the roster is one less spot Bails has to develop new talent. And that is the aim of the club, to develop the list to contend for a flag in the near future. Sorry, but Welsh is not the Answer. Sampi has a better chance of making th cut, and even he is an outside shot!
-
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!! Cousins would NEVER make the cut! Rocca is not doing all that well, so what the hell do people think cousins could bring to the world of punting?? This is BULL, and will never happen!
-
I can't wait to see what Bode produces with a full pre-season. Maybe he could do a Belly and come from no-mans land to becoming a token defender. Nice to see he has passion for his club, and teammates

WCE culture might have had something to do with the lack of application shown by Sampi. The eagles have talent ooozing form every corner, but the old school hard work and strict player management are no part of the WCE culture. Maybe if he gets in with Bailey's system, he will find the motivation and desire he lacked at the eagles. I think too much pressure is applied to Aaron Davey to be the big brother. ANy influence Aaron has on Ashley will be postivie, Aaron is just that special person who can leave him amrk on anyone. But will Aaron have enough time and energy to work on his one game and Sampi's? I see this as a Motlop Mach2. It is low risk, and if it could help us, why not. I am just hoping Sampi can bring to our team what motlop couldn't.
