  1. Carltank will win more than 5. They will beat us twice, and will rack up wins against sub par teams like freo. Tiggies and Blues also have to play each other, so that always helps. Tigers are 2-2, and have not played us.
  2. To my Knowledge Bails inked a 2 year deal. Now correct me If i am wrong, but we are hardly in a financial position to be buying out contracts ans sending coaches packing 4 games into a 2 season contract. Bails will see his contract out. IF it turns around (like it did for clarkson, he was in the same boat as bails is now some years ago) we may be singin a different tune.
  3. Grimes is out for 8, and there is no guarantee he will be fit to go at all this year. Grimes will take at least 3 weeks to hit match fitness, so 11 weeks from now best case scenario for Grimes debut. Given our run of injuries, I am sure someone else will be placed on the IR list, allowing Aussie to play as many games as he earns. And as IWAP stated, mid-season retirements. If Neita, White, Yze, Holland do something major, it is lights out Career over. Those boys know if they couldnt make it back to hang it up and allow a kid to carry the torch. And one other thing, if we are 0-12 in 8 weeks,we could see the ol forced retirement (the subtle shove out the door- youth policy). As long as Aussie works hard Bails will find a way to keep him playing.
  4. A Shame actually, Miller was hitting some rare form and was looking good. I hope he can bounce back and continue his re-development. I like that he has soem agro back in him game, just needs to use it a better way instead of ramming into a guys back 5 seconds after he had taken a mark. Maybe a chance for Dunny to log big mins at CHF???
  5. If maric makes the cut, Aussie or Robbo have to be chopped. Robbo won't be dropped next week for Maric. If robbo does not come good in a fortnight, then we may see Maric. I would like to see more Aussie also, so a tough call. Maric has a future by the sounds of him. Needs a few more good outings before he can push his way into the red and blue jumper.
  6. If the stats we so close, that would be a cause for concern. If the ball was used/shared pretty evenly, how the hell did we get smashed by 48 points??
  7. Any other dees getting plenty of it? Good te hear Maric is looking good. Maybe Bails might blood him this season.
  8. Second coming of Hird and pickett???? WOW,you must be SOME SORT of football scout to be able to see that after a few games. Have you considered being a professional football scout? Ripping on Daneil Bell has to stop. How we all can turn against a player so quickly. Bell is not our best backman, but he will be on our list because he can cut it at this level. You can tell me to follow another club if you like, I am sure the MFC will be rapped when I stop renweing my longstanding MFC membership.
  9. If i could choose WHICH games melbourne would rop this season, it would be both against Carltank. I cannot sit back and watch them add a 4th number 1 pick into a nice pool of young kids. I would not mind losing this game, as long as it is not by 20+ points. I do NOT want Calrtank getting the number 1 pick. In all honesty, I think we COULD win, but I am not sure what our intentions are or Carltanks this season, so anything could happen.
  10. Are you kidding me??? Carroll may not be our most skillful player, but he has more guts and heart than most of your players, and guts and heart are what wins flags. I am not saying he does not need help down there, but you have to be fair, Carroll is taking the BEST forward nearly every week. He is going a great job, and with one addition you will see him become more valuable across the board. Rivers- Best backman at the club. Is better than bizzell by a long way. Frawlz- Have only seen the odd bit here and there, but looks a capable player with height and speed to match most forwards.
  11. Lions are not THAT bad a side. These things happen in footy. Port has a similar list to us. Many ageing/fading vets, and some handy kids who are still a bit too green to take the game on. A coach is NEVER responsible for a 13 goal turnaround. That is the players! As for Bails, this season is just a tester, seeing who is worth their weight on the list. We shall see a bit more next season when he has the correct tools he needs to carry out his game plan.
  12. Well, nest game is a REAL yardstick. We play the true owners of the "crappest team in the AFL" mantle. If we can't beat them, we may as well test every player on the roster and see who is capable of a strong 2009 campaign. As for next week , a few small changes. CJ will get dropped for Ricky-P. Moloney is he is around and fit could add some fuel to a very weak outfit.
  13. Surely will get at least 4 weeks. Halls record won't help him any. He could get anywhere from 4-8 This could derail the swans 2008 campaign!!
  14. Bartram - worked really hard Bell - seen better games Bruce - limited as defender Carroll - good in parts Davey - plenty to like Dunn - showing some form Green - just another game Jamar - you're not PJ C. Johnson - sandy next week Jones - tried hard McDonald - seen better afternoons McLean - good and bad Miller - still possible CHF! Morton - rookie rollercoaster begins Neitz - one more chance Rivers - best backman at MFC! Robertson - not there yet Sylvia - good when needed Wheatley - becoming very important Whelan - will hit form White - should have dominated, didn't Wonaeamirri - showing good signs
  15. I must be one of the few, as angry as we all are, doesnt the idea of a Melbourne demons team with Neita bring a tear to your eye? He is the heart and soul of this team, and has been for a decade. He has been below average, but in his defence not many forwards would be kicking bags with the $hitful delivery and today the umpires were ANTI Neitz and co. He has been average, but SURELY, he will get one last chance next week. One last chance to turn it on and kick/mark himself back into form. I will be at the footy next week, I do not want it to be the last time i ever watch the great David Neitz play in the Red and Blue. I hope he can turn it aorund, and play the season out.
  16. Danners was alright. CAC also did some good for the club. Our position now stems from many things, some of which could happen to any cluib. We had a few bum draft years, no doubt, and that has hurt us. We are missing quality middle aged players, instead we have great kids, and fading legends. Forget the past, it is the past. This season is going to be $hit, lets try and enjoy watching some of the kids develop, and see what can rise from the ashes over the next few seasons. Get behind the boys, and get behind bails and we will see what happens (bails has no done anything to make me feel like he is the man, but many clubman spoke of him as the man to turn the club around, so we will wait and see)
  17. To Colin Sylvia's credit he has turned his form around and is starting to resemble something of a player. I hope he can make further strides to become somethign the club needs....a star player! Great to see "the kid" back playing good footy.
  18. Our poor start comes from one thing. LACK OF LEADERSHIP. Who gets the blame? Everyone at the club is to blame, We need to breed out the [censored], and add some heart into this footy club. The coach can be blamed for some of the leadership, but on match day, the players on the ground need to lead this club to war, the coach can only do so much. I think Bails could be a good leader, and hopefully his leadership will rub off on the playing group.
  19. Hey Guys, Was at a mates house watching the game on Foxtel. The commentators were commenting on some of the poor decisions that were being made. I personally had to laugh at some of them, they were just THAT bad. I wonder how it is that an umpire can get away with such a shocking performance and still keep their job. I need to be an ump, they just make it up as they go along. AS IF THE ROOS NEEDED THE HELP!! Would have been nice if they had given us half a chance by calling the game like they should have!!
  20. Ym, you say "Cheney, Kyle - looks the goods this kid, Peter Walsh clone in every way". Let us hope he is a tad better than walshy! Ym, I agree with most of your 2009 summary. Retired David Neitz- 50/50 might go one more. Jeff White- 50/50 also Adem Yze- looks grim for OOOZE Ben Holland- Sad but true, gone 2009. Traded Cameron Bruce- Doubt someone will take his contract unless we pay half (not good for our cap, better off keeping him), so he is staying Brent Moloney- If he cannot find fitness, I cannot see him even being traded. Might be done at AFL level if he cannot get fit. Russell Robertson- Big trade candidate, could see the saints/dogs/dockers making a move for him. Brad Miller- Not going to get enough in return in a trade. Delisted Matthew Warnock- Matty is not up to it. GONE Mark Jamar- To my knowledge under contract until end of 2009. More likely to be a trade candidate to a SA team. Jace Bode- Hmm, not sure yet, could turn it around. Is playing for his career this season. Chris Johnson- Another one playing for his career, has a chance under bails, he needs to grab it and step up. Colin Garland- Too yong to give up on. Will get another year. Promoted Trent Zomer- Doubt it so far. Austin Wonemarri- Will be on Senior list in the minds of coaches before this seasons end. Shane Valenti- Will be promoted if enough retirements/trades/delistings occur
  21. We will wait and see, I am hoping we see a return to form for both Robbo and Neita. 3 weeks is plenty of time, and they need to be dropped if they cannot show us something special.
  22. OUCH, nothing like a DOOMSDAY thread before lunch. ON a serious note, WTF is with people writing off kids before they have played a game? Bazza, TJ was traded because this would be the last year where he would warrant a top pick. Another 12 months would see his value decrease. We have a good enough future, the hawks we garbage for a few seasons when they tried this approach, and I am sure we will reach the heights hawthorn have in a few seasons time.
  23. Ok YM. Let me get one thing straight. David Neitz is one of the great MFC players. He is in the same mould as Flower, Stynes and Lyon. Neita is a different player, but my god he has been fantastic over the eyars and deserves every bit as much credit as our greats from years past. And YM, Morton is going to be SPECIAL. Just don't expect him to be too much too soon. We had those expectations the year Sylvia and McLean were drafted, and those two are still developing (they may not reach the heights of Stynes and company, but I can still see a bright future for both at this club)
  24. Whelan gives us something we miss more than anything. A carrier to run the ball out of the backline and into attack. When wheels is playing, we see less chipping around. His forwardline pressure is to die for, which could result in higher opposition turnovers in our back 50. Rivers is our best backman, no doubt. He is the general out there, and is accountable for cutting off poor entries into our back 50, and gettting the ball out with minimal effort. Having the duo back will also lift the great nathan carroll (no joke, he is my pick for B&F so far, he has marked just about everything!!!) and Daniel Bell.
  25. Great write up guys! Just on the forwardline, I would like to see Dunn given a solid 90% of game time in the forwardline ot see how he goes. Newtin is going to play FF when neita goes, but what of the CHF/Flank possies? Bater is one option, but we really have to set some foundations for our future campaigns. Neita and Robbo are not the tandem duo of years past, time to move on form that and throw a new forward mix from today onwards. If neita and robbo fail this week, changes must be made, including a trial of Newton, dunn and dare i say it...Brad Miller (he uses to give me goosebumps when he played CHF and uses to charge into oncoming traffic-sure he got reported more than he would have liked, but it worked wonders for us as a team)
