  1. Just goes to show how hard it is to win a flag. Kick like that in a prelim and that’s all she wrote. ANB, Spargo and Pickett hang your heads in shame. Still love you boys of course but you just can’t miss shots like that.
  2. Could it be maybe that TMac goes to the wing while JJ fills in for Viney? I seem to remember TMac was training for the wing role at one point, either this summer just gone or the one before.
  3. Surprised after all these years that there are people who still don't understand how Sunday squads work. Goody has actually done us a favour by naming JJ, Jackson, Harmes and Sparrow on the extended bench. Those 4 plus the starting 18 will be the team and we don't even need the usual 24 hours to speculate. Not sure what that means for TMac's role going forward, but Goody must prefer to have him in the 22 as some sort of Mr. Fixit rather than to omit him. I don't think the three amigos will work together in F50.
  4. Thanks Dazzle. That's exactly the kind of injection this thread needed. Kind of strange reporting from Tom Browne - he says that Alan Richardson is confident of a deal being reached soon, but then seems to imply that he knows more information and that Richo and the club have got that wrong. Surely the club would be well aware of where the talks currently stand? If Jackson did sign through to free agency like he said, then it would be a 5 year deal and a fantastic result.
  5. Literally enjoyed that more than Saturday night just about. [censored] the Cats. [censored] em. Looking forward to Chris Scott's delicious salty tears on 360 tonight.
  6. I'm more than happy just to bank the 4 points at this time of year, but that being said, welcome back Perth Dees. We have missed you. Kosi's third quarter goal will go criminally underrated. It's very rare to see that happen in a game of footy. And for good reason, it's simply incredible the amount of petrol tickets that guy is able to spend at one time. And then it was probably toppled by Sparrow's effort a short while later. In 2019, not only was I strongly opposed to drafting Luke Jackson, but I also called the Steven May trade a "bust". You guys should just put me on ignore.
  7. Pretty sure that I was commenting on the tackle captured in the photo, so please disregard my initial commentary on the matter. Clearly Ben is a naughtier boy than I thought, two incidents in one game!
  8. He got straight up to take his kick. Can only assume the doctor's report stitched Ben up or the VFL have a different set of rules to the MRO. You have to do some pretty bad damage to get two weeks in the AFL. By the way, there may be another incident I didn't catch (didn't watch the full game) - but knowing Ben Brown this tackle is highly likely to be the incident.
  9. I saw the incident live. It was a coat-hanger tackle early on in the game. It was a clear free kick, and I thought a harsh judge could make a case for a fine or even a week, but two weeks for that?!? Seems outrageous to me. EDIT: Different incident my apologies!
  10. No one in the media wants to say it so let me. JUH sucks.
  11. No better sight in footy than a torp goal on the siren. The friendly exchange between ump and Riewoldt beforehand just adds to the theatre. Suffer Dogs.
  12. I noticed he was having no impact, but surely his form is irrelevant tonight? Interesting debate perhaps.
  13. The AFL stream was way too dodgy for me to persist, but liked the look of Bailey Laurie early. Let’s not forget that Jason Taylor rated this guy the next best player in the draft after Bowey in 2020.
  14. Just when you thought your blood pressure would get some respite with Duckwood* sitting the game out, Pushy Hawkins comes out and gets me even more triggered than usual. *Perfectly OK when Spargo or Kosi do it.
  15. After all these years I can finally empathise with James Kelly sleeping through the club song. Next.
  16. I will go into my personal debt for the rest of my life if it means keeping Jackson just one more season. Arguably a Top 20 player in the league already (but needs more exposed form). And to think there were some fools out there who wanted us to draft Hayden Young! Egg all over your face. PS. Don't look back through my post history in 2019.
  17. A bit of a 2021 GF theme to that match. Max King is good to watch.
  18. And an additional free against and goal to top it off. I’ve died and gone to heaven.
  19. Selwood getting jeered, then run down from behind, might just be the best thing I’ll see all weekend. And I saw Langdon’s goal.
  20. Seems like he’s had more wins than he’s had clangers.
  21. Preuss is a good player but I don’t miss the guy at all, he just reminds me of the dark days. Now for my second favorite pastime of the weekend: Barracking against the sooks.
  22. You clamp down on Petracca and all that does is let Oliver run rampant. We are a hard team to stop. I know some posters will flame us for the scrappiness of that effort but "Bang Bang Bang" footy isn't needed at this time of year. Bank the points, reset, recalibrate and move onto next week. Very happy to see Weideman do well. He keeps his spot ahead of TMac for sure, IMO.
  23. Don’t rate Weideman at all and am perplexed how he jumped ahead of Mitch Brown in the queue, but hopefully tonight’s the night. Just needs to clunk an early one.
  24. I will sit on the fence a bit here. On one hand, he cost us next to nothing in terms of draft picks and may have brought a raft of intangibles to the club during his three years. Also, there's an argument that every single recruiting decision we made from 2013 onwards contributed positively in some way to what eventually happened in 2021. But... his on-field performances fell well below initial expectations. He brought finals experience with him, yet was one of our worst performed players during the 2018 Finals Series. Conclusion? It probably WAS worth it because of the minimal costs involved in getting him across. However, I think he was underwhelming, even factoring in his age at the time. Jordan himself could count himself a little unlucky. He chose the Demons based on his expectations of us becoming a major force within a couple of years. He just missed misjudged it slightly. I think if he had his time over again he would have gone to Richmond who nobody could have predicted to rise the way they did at the time Jordie was exploring his options.
  25. Alan Richardson was just asked about this on the DeeBrief podcast. He sounded extremely confident about Luke staying (mentioned he's involved in the actual process), and also mentioned that he had been involved at eight different football clubs and has never seen a player of that size move around the field like Luke does.
