THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Uncle Fester replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ummm. OK. You tell them, Jab. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-04-23/former-tiger-jake-king-seeking-compensation-over-careerending-injury -
Yeah, I'm with you, but there is an element that goes past that in right into the nasty. Anyway, on the Iceburg (I just made that name up - how cool am I?) A mate at work (also a dee-tragic) was over the moon when we picked him up. Reckoned he was a real find. Played juniors with him or something. I only get to see him for about 8 seconds a week (ie he's working now as I have my 4 days off), but I'm hoping to corner the lad and find out a bit more about the enigma that is VanDemon-iceburg, or whatever his real name is.

The Mick Malthouse coaching milestone
Uncle Fester replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pfft. 715 games of coaching is nothing. 715 games of making journos wet their pants is a record that will never be beaten. -
Look, lay off. Players enjoy it as long as people aren't being a dick about it. They work hard to get where they are and like to talk about what they do, even if it is in a joking and self deprecating style. How do I know this? I grew up surrounded by the greats of the club. At most BBQ's there was at least one or two greats of the 50's and 60's there. Norm Smith was at my parents wedding. Why is that, you ask? Because my uncle is a triple premiership player that later captained the club. Do the maths and you'll know who I am talking about. Leave DVI alone, FFS. They talk to him because they like talking to him, and because he talks to them as humans rather than demi gods. Which, funnily enough, is they way they prefer. PM me if you really want proof, but for those that only want to argue the point don't be butthurt when I ignore you.

That's our ball, old chap. Now give it back or we will have to hurt you. -
Essendon also has Satan as #1 ticket holder... but they don't advertise that for some reason.

Dees v Dockers - Round 5
Uncle Fester replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
No. Decimated would mean we had four injuries across the whole list, and/ or two out of our best twenty two. What we have across our list is a quattuormation, or in regard to out best twenty two, a tribusmation. However if we get through next week without a quinquemation, while being durus et austerus, I shall be gavisus. Or as a famous Roman once said: I came, I saw, and I didn't lose any good players through injury. -

More bad luck for (former demon) Ricky Petterd
Uncle Fester replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was always a fan of Ricky, and wasn't happy that our imbroglio of the time saw him leave. I hope this is just a blip in his career. -
I don't share that concern.

Screw Clark. I hope he bursts into tears from every sledge he gets.

I don't care if it's thicker than Robbo. I'll spread it on my toast and eat it like Vegimite if it means enjoying two wins to kick off the season.

He would have been right if only the players weren't distracted by him not getting another million dollar contract.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Uncle Fester replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sure. That's what we did wrong. We picked assuming certain types would be the fit for the future game rather than just getting the best kid we could and picking them. I think the Saints (though I might have to eat humble pie on this) made that very mistake last year: they drafted McCartin (sp?) because they wanted a forward to replace Roo, rather than asking themselves if he was really the best available. Maybe it will work for them, maybe it won't, but the thinking behind it is still flawed.
