10 years on: From Melbourne’s darkest days to dynasty building
In those days (11-13) I often wondered if I’d have a club to support the next day a la Fitzroy. I don’t mind seeing things about the bad times because ‘bang! bang! bang!’ made the flag so much the sweeter. We could win the next 10 in a row, but none of them will ever taste as good as the one we got after so many years thinking that that joy only happens to others

I’m not posting during games any more!
And in further news passionate supporter is passionate about their team. Wouldn't have it any other way, mon ami. If it makes you feel better this Vic born and bred boy found himself in the middle of NSW heartland last weekend yelling out in the last quarter - this is no longer a touch up, you pretend club -this is a seeing to. Now get the [censored] off our MCG' That I'm alive is the assumption that no-one up there could speak English from multiple rugby head knocks.

Kozzy Racially Vilified
It's quite funny really. Someone watches a game they are obviously invested in, and when they see someone do something that they can only dream about the best they can come up with is 'you suck coz you are different from me'. No [censored] they are different. They have talent.

Veil of Negativity
There really isn't too much difference between this time last year, and now. 2 wins (that we easily could have had in the last couple of weeks), not much % wise, very wide open field... and I think a lot of us forget that we were a Gawn goal from finishing 3rd. Sure from here it only takes one bad game to be bundled out, but none of the teams scare me - home or away. We are right in it, and we are definitely going to be considered the team to beat in two weeks.

What They Are Saying at Western Oval
Why worry. It’s a long season and that GF will mess around with them at big games. Geelong had the wood over hawthorn- except when it mattered

Gone in 40 seconds.
Still in shock, I think. A beautiful shock but it’s very surreal. Funny but I was calm the whole game. Even 19 down I wasn’t worried. I just knew we were better than them. That said when we got 36 points up I sent a text to a friend saying ‘[censored] me! I think we just won a premiership!’

What’s your favourite GOAL from the Grand Final?
Re two above- Kozzie without a touch is still worth ten. He’s hard at it off the ball, and any defender around him is second and third guessing themselves when he’s around. Perceived pressure leads to hurried disposal, which leads to more pressure etc etc until the ball is turned over. Flash was great at that. Sometimes he only had to be in the vicinity to cause trouble. Kozzie has the same gift

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Was bored this arvo and rewatched the Brisbane and Geelong finals. Damn that Sparrow kid can play. Set up some great goals in both and backed it in the GF. Might never be a Petracca or Oliver, but looks a very solid 200 plus player

Demon Germans
TISM reference yeah? Ron ‘Hitler’ Barassi.

Saturday Morning on Demonland (5)
Fair? Fair is for the field, and that’s for the umpire to decide. Off field it’s all about who is best for the club. Sure there are ‘I won’t step on your toes with that if you don’t step on mine with this’ handshake deals, but even those have the club first approach If standing back and letting someone take someone coz of feelings of doing the right thing happens then that club deserves to struggle for decades

Schadenfreude at last
Good player but I don’t miss him. And yes I hope he’s eating his liver right now

2021 Player Reviews: #15 Ed Langdon
Couldn’t seal the deal in 2018 because we had too many accumulaters and nobody outside. Now we have 2 of the best ready to attack or defend as needed. His gut run goal was a thing of beauty. Anyone could be forgiven for jogging at that point in the game but he busted a gut and burnt off whoever was meant to be on him

2021 Player Reviews: #10 Angus Brayshaw
My boy! Loved him from the first moment he was yukking it up with Trac when they were drafted. Was always going to be a gun, and had to reinvent himself because of our midfield riches, but boy did he do it so well. A very understated part of the team is our wingers club

Proved them wrong
‘They have too many middle-of-the-road players who are role players but they won’t win you a premiership‘ Anyone that needs to be called a list guru (cough cough Wallace) is anything but

Peter Jackson interview on Sporting Life.
Lots to unpack and I might get to it over the next couple of days, but over the interviews posted here a couple of things 1/ I’ll take him as a boss any day of the week. Hell I’ll even take a pay cut and love it 2/ How refreshing to hear things said as it was. He didn’t pot anyone or sell snake oil, just (as we well knew) the club had stuffed up almost every basic thing it had to do BUT it so many people crying out for leadership like his 3/ a bit of a weird one, and I should probably relook to see if I saw it right, but in the gig every time he mentioned culture or some such his eyes flicked to Roos. A sorta I’m not pissing in your pocket look. Maybe I read too much into it but I reckon the deal might have been shook on not long after that
