Love your work Mr. Fence. Great to have some positive news regarding returning players. We especially need Viney fit and firing for round 1 to make sure the intensity is 100% and flat efforts Less than 3 weeks until round 1!! ps. did you see young Angus? any update?

I just keep thinking of his legendary commentary quotes "you'd think the next goal is important, wouldn't you?" Yes Bruce, it's the last quarter and the margin is 5 points

I’ll never hear ‘Great call BT’ again ??

Ooooooh he knew how to commentate didn't he

people forget how good the older players were. I wonder what people will think of Gawn in 2045. for now, I am happy we have a fantastic ruckman and great leader. I reckon Petracca is the best player in our team so Gawn the best of all time? maybe when he is the best player in the current team

He is great with the Athletics and horse racing, however his footy commentary in recent years has been horrible. I wish him well. But let's hope a new generation of commentators comes through that actually call the action that is happening rather than repeating the same tripe each week and maintaining obvious biases

anyone throw up in their mouth a bit at the last sentence? James Brayshaw will step into McAvaney’s spot on Friday nights along with Brian Taylor

Devastating for the bloke. He has gotta be thinking - is his body up to the rigors of AFL if he cant get through preseasons.

Certainly agree. We don’t have any performing forwards aside from Hore. Not much depth in the midfield and lack skill across the squad
-
You can’t have your captain shanking kicks. She needs to handball more coz it rips the momentum apart 2 goals 18 carrying on from last week. Pathetic. The pies almost stopped in The 3rd and we still couldn’t score

The umps are bog so far. They were going at one free kick every minute in the first ten. joke. Let them play

Only 23yo averaged ~30 touches over the past 4 seasons. Adjusting last year for shortened games remarkable. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY

Amazing drafting by the Demons. This kids will be a gun on HB. Should be in 22 for round 1. Speed and kicking skills desperately needed down back -
Has played an amazing last 100 games not up there yet with Neitas 300 games or Lyon but if Gawn plays another few great seasons he will be. Hopefully Clarry and Trac are in the conversation in 10 years

Couldn't watch the game but after reading the gameday thread I am booking GF tickets with one hand and slitting my wrists with the other. I assume the truth lies somewhere inbetween??

not talking just about this practice match. they won 3 games last year, including losing 14 from the last 15. traded out their best player/mid and best fwd. not sure how they will kick a goal. their list is horrible. Stevenson won't make much difference, he was a flash in the pan
-
North won't have much competition for the spoon you wouldn't think. Neeld-like years coming up for them
-
hope you are correct - will be great to get a look at Jordon in the middle

The footy season is finally about to start up again the biggest story is about a manning the mark rule change? that'll get the kids excited! I could not give a rats clacker
-
good idea - email the club
-
So best 22 missing from round 1 confirmed are Brown and Weed. anyone else?
-
if you want speed and an occasional couple of goals - go with Hunt if you want tackling, good delivery inside 50 and intensity - go with Spargo neither is perfect
-
I hear what you are saying but we are a more professional, competent club now. The kids should have expectations put on them and they should believe they can play round 1 but we should not be expecting them to be the difference. Rivers and Jackson for example came in, played their role and played well.

Gus Brayshaw will be the newish whipping boy. Won't be playing on the ball much and he'll scrub his first kick under no pressure (on his left for no reason) and DL will melt Surprise - Harmesy - out of lockdown and out of the HB line and back to his exciting best

Lucky for Port they didn't take this attitude. Age is irrelevant, if they are ready, bring them in. Especially the quick, little fellas can have a big impact from the go
