  1. Only Pedo and Frost were 'rejects'. Hannan was a reserves player therefore an untried recruit and the other 3 had notched up quite a bit of kudos at their own clubs.
  2. Fair enough. I also agree he's well above anyone else on that list and I hesitated in naming him. He couldn't crack it for a regular game with GWS, however. Injuries hampered him, I know but...The bottom line is Melbourne were keen to offload him. Like I say, I mean him no disrespect but I know every time he passed the ball to an opposition player - pin point accurate - I felt another stab in my already Demon-fractured heart.
  3. Newton, Kennedy, Sellars, Gillies, Michie, Riley, Burns, Rodan, Balic, Tyson - and I mean no disrespect to any of them - but rarely has a reject gone and shone for us. Tyson had his moments, as did Kennedy, Newton and Michie, but I'd rather trust Taylor and Co. to unearth the untried bargains they've been able to conjure.
  4. Fidge looked bloody good: he was the kind of player - like Millane- who with guidance and understanding would have become oustanding.
  5. You'll be surprised at how well Weidemann will mark when he's truly up and brim full of confidence. He is an awesome pack mark.
  6. I wouldn't like to marooned on a desert island with any of you. Maybe Ernie, at least he could write...
  7. Not sure I want to read the comments about what he could/should have been, nor do I need to know about his frailties, as though we are all who we should be, as though we all overcome our frailties. His teammates loved him, the kids he visited in hospital, his family and the people he spent so much time caring about loved him. I loved watching him, I loved the fact he gave his life his best shot, I feel so sad that he's gone.
  8. Klep was there after my sentence was served. All I can say is we had a good cricket team, lost one game in 5 years and in that time we beat Assumption Kilmore twice in 3 weeks. They are about the only good memories, oh, and making my debut in the 'Firsts' Footy team in my last year - 1967 - when I heard we were going to fly to Tasmania.
  9. It's now a co-ed school, unbelievable from the point of view that when we were there we were taught that apart from the Blessed Virgin Mary and your mother, women were the enemy. What's the latest scandal and what's your association with them?
  10. Not surprised. Not long ago a former 1st Eighteen Captain rang me and said he would organise a lunch with some of the Brothers ( sic) and Priests( sic) but I haven't heard from him since, mainly, I believe because they know I have campaigned against their rule of terror and infamy on social media. It sounds like you know of their misdeeds, perhaps first hand?
  11. Is that like MSG free? Or free range eggs?
  12. Watched some Youtube footage of some famous victories in 2016, also watched some jack watts highlights from 2009-2016. Eerily, some of the better players in the victories against the hawks, GWS and Eagles were Pedersen, Bugg, Watts, Kent and my whipping boy, TYson. Oi Weh, all of them is gone to the de devil.
  13. Neither you nor I would have had a chance in the world if it were.
  14. i'VE HEARD THAT'S WHY HE'S BEEN TRYING TO KICK WITH HIS LEFT FOOT FOREVER. IT'S CALLED ARTISTIC PRESCIENCE.
  15. Our Capricorn Fundamentalist daughter will simply not countenance the addition of one lentil to the Bolognaise sorce (sic).
  16. Anyway, Beel - I am one of the few literary trypes (sic) on this syte(sic) who knows you are really DA Devil! Emmanuel K, eat your heart out. And that Dalai just keeps getting fatter from Tibetan Takeaways...
  17. I fail to understand why you'd think that. It's as though an assistant coach is not allowed to have an opinion, or, even worse, such an observation must not be made public. It's as plain as day that the Melbourne brains thrust had no qualms about his imminent departure so there must have been issues. If there weren't the 'issues' rumours would not keep bubbling to the surface. His dummy spits when umpires failed to reward him surely must have been one of the issues, an issue which Jesse seemed incapable of addressing. Or, maybe it was his 'Kicking 'Coach who despaired Jesse would ever lose that convoluted inclination to hold the ball as if he was going to kick it with his left foot...
  18. I was at that game in Box Hill: he kicked 5 of them in the first half, he kicked some from a long way out, and he was marking everything that came his way. I also know someone who has known and followed Sam from his junior days and he has told me we ain't seen nothing yet. He is also full of praise for Sam as a human being. This guy is not a Demon supporter either...
  19. I also recall doing a tasting at the Ross Town Hotel bottle Shop in 2007. I had a loo break and who walks out of the gaming room - on their way to play for the Dees against Richmond later that evening- but the great Byron and Mr Davey.
  20. My favourite encounter - even beating having a chat and selling a bottle of wine to David Neitz in early 2006 - was a chat with Ron Barassi in a bottle shop in Acland Street the same year. After our chat the great man turned around when he got to the door and proclaimed 'Go Dees'.
  21. You mentioned him: you're suspended for ten minutes!
