MFC player racially abused on social media - club statement
dieter replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's interesting, Deanox, how the Cranks and Faultys and his gang turned this into a debate about Dark Emu, which to my understanding, simply points out that the so-called History about Aboriginal culture we were taught might be askew somewhat. So instead of having a discussion about how widespread and common racial abuse is in our country, we get served up the ridiculous side tracked convolutions the Cranks and Fs's and their like roll out. -

What the flock has that got to do with the intolerance and prejudice and racial abuse in Australia? -

Yep, debunked alright, by people like Bolt and Windshuttle? Yes, both fine examples of objective White Supremacy Dogma. -

I found it very moving, devastatingly so. One of my best friends from school days - who was a Truancy Officer in East Gippsland in the 80's - has unfortunately allowed his perceptions that the Lake Tyers Aboriginal camp was a place of bludgers and alcoholics and degenerates to poison his mind towards the Aboriginal people in general. He still comes pout with the line that 'these people' need to leave their primitive ancient ways behind and enter the twenty first century and he is always sprouting on about the money they are given by the government. He, in my mind, represents what was/is a common perception of Aboriginal Culture in Australia, I.E. it comes from a place of ignorance, rampant prejudice and total disrespect for something they are not familiar with. It's the basis for the notion of White Supremacy. For the record, I tried to point out to him that bludging, alcoholism, substance abuse and domestic violence occur in the society he believes Aborigines should aspire to. -
You mean H.G. Wells, of course.

You live in a very binary world, fd: anyone who disagrees with you is a 'Leftist'. Is there any room in your head for the idea that it's a bit more complicated than that. -
I heard the same from a Mudgee motel owner whose brother played for the Eagles - full back - at that time.

What, because I've fired a crucial fusillade across the bow of your imagination?

Oh, so now the Western tradition is the only one which has widely embraced 'self-reflection' about being a perpetrator. Wow. Can you articulate which 'Tradition' you are referring to? Are you referring to Britain's total amnesia about its Colonial crimes? Is it some voices in the wilderness in the USA who point out that the USA has been at war throughout its history bar four - oh yes, I acknowledge these whispers from the wilderness exist , I've heard them - but if you believe this is widespread you must live in a parallel universe.

You're right, rape and pillage is a universal trait. As is racism. The simple fact of history is that in the past five hundred years - with very few exceptions - nearly all of the rape and pillage has been an exclusive White Man Christian thing and I know you'll pull out your favourite exceptions to the rule, 'monsters' like Saddam who we simply had to 'replace' cos, hey, we're the good guys and that's our job as Sheriffs and Deputies, and after all he ceased being useful to us when the Iraq/Iran war finished. So I obviously went to a different school than you. At my school you didn't simply swallow all the codswallop the Victors and Conquerors wanted me to believe. It was a very private school, actually, where my brain and sensibilities ruled, a school where I simply saw beyond the narrative of the superior while man. It's a school which acknowledges the horror of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, of the Bengal famine, the Irish famine, the rape and decimation of most Northern American native people, the attempted genocide of our Aboriginal communities, something [censored] white supremist lunatics still maintain didn't happen. I could go on, Cranky FRanky but I am familiar with the futility of attempting to pass urine when a gale is blowing in your face. I also take consolation in the fact that there are still men and women who believe the world is flat, that Trump won, that Covid is a hoax - I don't know anyone that's got Covid, do you?

Little Goffy, racism is racism. It always comes from predominant - usually white - culture, as you so eloquently point out. Most of the Asian, African and 'American' world was taken over by white, European, so-called Christian - colonizers. That the races and cultures the colonizers mainly destroyed is not the issue here: it's the ongoing attitude of most European whites. Or, as I heard in a RN broadcast about racism, the notion of white supremacy is basically a British one. Darwin has nothing to do with this. Have you heard about the signs put up in parks in China by the Brits during the so-called Opium Wars - No dogs or Chinese allowed - or the famous Calwell quote: Two wongs don't make a white? I rest my case. Go back to your infantile cubby hole in the sand.

Great stuff! Or, as they say, Precisely.
-
No, dear, it's an historical fact.
-
I'd rather be over the top than under it. Or, better to be blatant than latent.
-
Fantastic stuff, Mr Flaubert. I've just breathed a huge wave of contentment that somebody on this site - on any site, for that matter - can shine a light on how inherent and persistent and barely beneath the surface racism is in this country - as it is in most so-called Christian and white societies: it always has been so. Once again, thanks...

Scomo and Gladys and Co are not in the business of making tough decisions: it's all about the economy, see....

Have a good look at the Greene incident. He extended his elbow to clip Dangerfield. That's different to 'fending off'.
-
Greene stuck out his elbow and deserves everything he gets. Selwood leads such a charmed life for a sniping thug.
-
All valid and great points. I am almost mute with exasperation with those people who cannot comprehend how much Morrison has lied to us and totally failed us. From the Ruby Princess onwards...There are great articles by Bernard Keane in Crikey and Michelle Grattan in The Conversation where, Keane in particular, pinpoints every time Morrison has lied and attempted to cover up and 'word spin' his way out of a mess he and his 'Its not a race' government have made of this.
-
Greene will cop nothing, as will Selwood for his head bump. Sailor Vee, as they say in the Navy. ( Then again, I felt a sense of satisfaction that two of the biggest thugs in the business - Dangerfield and Greene - were the main actors in this little scenario of the pot and the black kettle. )

Abuse? Facts are facts. Are you aware of the bulldust about Vaccine Rollouts? 3 Million by the end of MARCH? We're hardly there now. Keep your head in the sand, let's concentrate on the FOOTY SHALL WE??????
-
As to your comparison to a wealthy first first world country, you must never underestimate to capacity that Scomo's Merry Men have to lie and bull****e their way into making us a basket case. From the Ruby Princess onwards, right down to the mythology that at the end of March etc etc etc.

Um, wait till the hospitals are fully loaded to the max. Already there is a case of medics having to sit with a Covid infected patient in the back of an ambulance in Sydney for 7 friging hours before being admitted!!!!

I've noted that a lot of ex-pat Victorians reveal their true selves when they move to Queensland: it ain't a pretty sight.
