Olympic park /glass house was offered to the MFC 20years ago & knocked back unbelievably, the question is why hasnt car park F deal been done?? Kate our president had openly said finding the space in this precinct is a challenge so club needs to look outside of the MCG area , Port Melb ground would be great but no doubt challenges commercially, funding , our existing Casey VFL alliance not to mention the cricket club who use this ground so 20 people can watch games, as need the ground all year round.

I know it’s been covered but has the club looked at this …. Whilst Eddie time was up he was instrumental in getting Olympic park which Gutnick knocked back saying we couldn’t afford it! Eddie McGuire revealed this morning where he would look to relocate the Melbourne Football Club if he was in charge of the Demons. The Melbourne board revealed at their recent AGM that they are looking for a new permanent training & administration base. Eddie has suggested that Port Melbourne would be an ideal base for the Demons going forward. "I'd go to Port Melbourne, I'd go and do a deal with Port Melbourne and build a magnificent facility down there," Eddie said. "I'd even try and do a deal with Port Melbourne (football club) to make them the VFL team, they wear the same colours.

Are we the only club that dosent have a concrete plan of our future training facility?
-
Would have been done if this was the case, there’s a definite issue with both local & state gvt, club needs to clarify what the issues are. Unfortunately previous administrators signed this deal with Casey years ago & whilst it’s yielded premierships across all of the teams it’s not realistic to expect players etc to drive and 1 hr to train. Will keep on saying has the club looked at the Port Melb ground ripe for development in area which will see a huge population growth over the next decade.

Pie in the sky stuff if true & bloody frustrating that our club which is the oldest and bears the name of the city continues to be treated in such a way from the state gvt with no solution yet they are funding 140 mill for Geelongs stadium .. it’s a disgrace

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years

Would be a joke if any team loses 2 top 10 draft picks from the same draft, premiership or not. Great system AFL hey -
Frustrating if true & sad that a club with the City Name can’t be accommodated yet the gvt finds a way to build tunnels which continue to blow out of budget by billions
-
Club has become so cbd / mcg precinct obsessed that perhaps other opportunities have been missed .. No doubt Pert & co have done a great job in terms finances, sponsors , resources for footy dept has resulted in flags across all the teams. Port Melb Fc is ripe for development but you can’t align urself with 2 VFL clubs
-
I saw Pert at the Albert Park hotel having dinner, I wanted to go up and ask what the status…
-
Factually correct as all of our 3 teams have won flags within 2 seasons .. but it’s 2022 and the MFC is the only club without a truly home training base they call their own! The continued failure by successive boards to find a home whilst the cats get 140 mill, dogs & tigers get 70 mill in funding is a joke! Current board have done great in off the the field and produce healthy profits, but we are last on the ladder for training base
-
Port Melb FC ripe for development, same theme song, 17 flags but we have aligned to Casey almost an 1hr yr away which had yield flags for both clubs. The other issue is would needy to get Port Cricket club to move
-
Is that yes both ??? The question is what contract have they signed with Josh’s Paddock since the increase of size, which would suggest the club was/will be close to a training centre nearby??
-
Unbelievable & not acceptable situation when the Cats get 140 mill , tigers & Dogs 30-70 million from state gvts & we are training in a paddock! Who’s to blame here as successive administrations have failed thus far to find a solution! Going around in circles once again and a credit to coaches & players to have had premiership success in both men & women sides. Is the club that stubborn with staying in this Precinct that other opportunities have gone missing??
-
Exactly copped 2 goals just before 1/2 time
-
Goody scored
-
Well done & good luck girls… Whats the Afl thinking playing a GF at a suburban ground with 10k capacity, understand Gabba not available due to Cricjet , what about the Suns ground if Etihad which is neutral ground
-
Exactly which proposals have they put fwd??? The latest one which Pert discussed was a facility to be built next Josh’s Paddock close to AAMI Park .. We continue to go around in circles and would have thought the calibre of Jackson & Pert would have nailed it!
-
Don’t disagree & no guarantee of success as Pies have the best for last 20years & yielded 1flag, which makes our flag even more great considering having to split it between Casey… But can’t fall behind the rest as every 1% counts to developing elite players plus retaining/attracting
-
State gvt funding of to other clubs Cats 142mill Bulldogs $77mill Tigers $35mil MFC 3 mill for a paddock increase in size.. go figure
-
We are so far behind the competition & the Afl needs to address this gap with crappy stadium deals, not sure how state gvt can support 1 team with 142m and the MFC can’t even get a training facility commitment https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-news-2022-fixture-details-2023-games-biggest-matches-key-dates-geelong-home-games-first-game-of-the-season/news-story/7814a69e4c54b1cd281813157f693192?fbclid=IwAR0wL4kn0vOVDM47humLu8MW8vA__O4i0x6PpsK8n_X7EEBeqFc6a7i3pgQ&mibextid=Zxz2cZ

Definitely way overdue and can’t fathom why we haven’t locked in a training facility?? The reality is best training facilities don’t guarantee success… Pies have had the best in the last 20yrs & yet produced 1 flag.We won a flag training in a paddock which was 20% smaller than the G and Casey which is over an hour away.

Port Melb FC ground is ripe for development along with all the current redevelopment of Fisherman’s bend, an expected extra 20k in population growth, not to mention Port Vfl team has the same theme song and colours & long successful history founded in 1874 & 17 flags
-
One needs to question is the norm across all the afl clubs or is this of the coat tails of the premiership ( let’s hope not)
-
Through no fault of the club due to lockdowns etc the December mcg celebrations just felt as though the sesame just dragged on for too long
