Mike Sheahan on Dean Bailey & Melbourne
deanox replied to Sydney Pennski's topic in Melbourne Demons
thats sort of funny, because you posted it after this thread was started... so you were 15 hours or so late... -
i didnt mention cousins. but what i am saying is that by jumping off you dont have a right to argue who should be running the club. you lose your right to vote.

slightly off topic, and it is very unfair to make a comparrison at this early stage, but ive seen glimpses of this 'extra time' in morton. occassionally when he has had the ball he manages to make it look like the game is waiting for him to take his kick. he hasnt hit his disposal straps yet, but to me it appears like he may have that extra second that allows him to hit targets once he puts it all together.

yze_magic and wheres_jacka have together opened a motivational speaking company after learning from david brent at a seminar weekend...

wonder if grimes will get a full game this week or just another half to ease him back into it? it is good to see they are taking the softly softly approach with all these players and their injuries. even rivers, moloney and mclean as senior players have been told 'end of season get things right' instead of making them 6-8 week injuries and trying to get them back. hopefully the careful management of petterd and grimes allows them to be on the park for all of next season.

considering your last question i would take the kpp forward, then the mid then the ruck in that order. however, having watched the vids of NN i could be very easily swayed. out of interest, this year we have the lowest number of insider 50's of any team but one of the best conversion rates (ie goals per inside 50 is high) (please someone correct me if im wrong on this, i just remember reading it somewhere). this suggests to me that we need most, is more inside 50s, which means an elite midfielder could be the better option. one of the keys here is making sure that the pass inside 50 goes into space to the advantage of the forward, whether small or tall. if the delivery is good, you only need one inside 50 per goal :D
-
you didnt see him last year?
-
i really want us to get a quality key forward who can take contested pack marks, i think we need that a lot, but you are right. that video looked scary...
-
yeah sorry i think my grammar was poor. thats what i was tring to say - you can boycot a supermarket because the ceo benefits, in the case of the mfc, the directors dont gain or lose if you dont sign up as a member.
-
i have high hopes that grimes, marric, petterd and morton will all slot into the senior side and be quality players, and it is good to see that the reports of these players consistantly have time and space, get lots of the ball and have a touch of class. even though they have stuff to learn it seems like they have the underlying attributes that can make them successfull afl players. newton keeps giving us glimpses of talent. he can obviously play, and he does know what things he has to do to keep his work rate up, perhaps he really has just been struggling with injury?

best line of the article: fantastic line there. but still the afl will continue to claim that 'tanking doesnt exist'. -
it makes me angry just thinking about how we could well have been robbed of a flag by injuries. it just hurts.
-
i understand this person may be someone you dislike, hate, or blame for events. he could be responsible for all of what you accuse him of. however, buying a membership does not support ron walker it supports the mfc. it is different than say, not shopping at coles when you hate the CEO, because he directly benefits. by refusing to buy a membership the only people you hurt are your fellow supports (and other members of our club, who need your help right now) and yourselves, because you loose the right to vote for who you want to be a director. (edit:) and the director does not benefit directly

could you imagine if in the early 90's we could have cloned neita and had one at CHF and one at CHB? wow.
-
because north jumped by over 50% and we haveincrease by a few thousand each year over the past few years. we also havnt had a big 'buy or membership or the mfc goes down' drive which encourages one of spending.
-
my thoughts exactly. brock will be a good player, we all know that. now valenti will get a spot in the team on a more consistant basis, hopefully give us a chance to develop another player. the down side for me is that brock was well on his way to playing good enough footy consistantly enough to be considered in a list of the games top players. he was really hitting his straps and continually performing well. that has been interrupted, and it would have been great to see him perform over the course of a whole year.
-
yeah rouge got it. sorry for the confusion guys. i am sure the numbers are genine (unlike hawthorns pet memberships of years gone by lol) however given how few people are attending nth games it really suggests that they are not 'genuine' supporters who go to the footy each week, etc. i believe it probably includes a lot of people who as rhino said pulled there finger out but otherwise have little to do with the club and therefore probably wont back it up) and a lot of sympathisers who didnt want to see nth go the same way as fitzroy. a lot of people have indicated they got on board even though they are not nth fans. for their membership to increase by over 50% (from 22k to 34k) you must assume that there are going to be problems with the turnover rate next year. for norths sake i hope its not too bad. but it will be interesting to watch none the less.

what did minson do?

miller had the claim to it, he was the first to touch it and he was the man in front. if miller lost hold of it and green brought it down it should have been play on imo. same as the mark to a brisbane player up the other end should defs have been play on, the man in front had it first, it should have been called touched.
-
they went from 22k last year to 34k this year. i dont care how much the goonies at AFLHQ want to talk, there is no way in hell that that membership is genuine (all proper nth melb supporters), and there is no way that they will sustain it. next year we will be back on top of them in the race. nth and bulldogs are still more vulnerable to go than we are.

out of interest, could the improvement in CJ, buckley etc be simply a natural progression of their development or does everyone believe that DB is directly responsible?
-
it is also very funny when people say 'i told you so' after 3 or 4 years of nothing and then two good games. beware the peril. fwiw i fell that i have always seen atributes in CJ, particularly his disposal by foot, but he has never quite looked like a league footballer. i am glad he has come on and played a few good games, and i hope he can continue that form for the next 8 weeks. remember, this time last year we were all saying the same things about daniel bell.

dunn ran with black for the first 3/4s but during the last quarter i saw dunn running with sam power a couple of times. im not sure if black was off during the last quarter or he just swapped jobs. in the las quarter i thought bartram was with hooper from memory?

think the ball going high into a pack of players in the goal square (4 i think, miller, green?, 2 brisbane players)...it looks to be going high over the pack, which moves back to follow the ball, miller jumps and stretches back and gets the ball at full stretch, green comes from the side, and two brisbane players crash into the pack as well, including millers player who was playing in front jumping back also trying to mark. miller holds the ball, green gets his hands on it, but miller keeps hold and lands flat on his back with the ball in his mits. the crowd are on there feet. (my dad says 'dont cheer too much, he hasnt kicked it yet' hahahaha)
