Delistings/trades at end of the season
SaberFang replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Think Roos had a pretty telling comment in his post-match today. It would seem the conservative delistings the club intended is off the cards now. Looks like another 1/4 list exodus this off-season after today's effort. Seems pretty clear that Roos and his coaches had a certain tolerance for poor performances over the first year, but those credits have been exhausted now. Would like to see a tangible response instead of just hot air from Roos. -
A year off from supporting this club can only do wonders for one's mental health.

Our senior players and Leadership - Pathetic!

We had more scoring shots and lost by 4 [censored] goals. We are hopeless! It's shades of the embarrassing Essendon loss all over again. -
I only remember two things Grimes did today, and both were total cockups that resulted in Carlton getting the ball. He's stuffed.
-
THIS. x100,000,000. Absolutely infuriated me. It's miles apart from what I see professional teams do. They all attack the ball the moment they see it in space. Our players look at the ball in space then start looking around for opposition players. What the actual [censored] are they being taught at training?
-
Basically sums it up. We're in a cycle that we can't get out of, because no matter how many promising young kids we get in, our best players will continue walking out the door because we simply can't improve fast enough.

Especially when you just know that GWS will come out with more to play for (despite both teams having nothing to play for).

Delistings/trades at end of the season

It's time to just go to the draft and build an entire list around Hogan and Brayshaw. It's clear by now that the so-called "senior" players aren't up to scratch. Look at what the Saints have built around Riewoldt and GWS around Cameron. -
You'd definitely take 1 year at a finals-contender like Adelaide than 4 with us. Who the hell knows what we'll do next year.
-
He's no McKenzie, Terlich, Howe or Grimes, that's for sure.
-
Hahaha, mate, you could offer him the entire salary cap and his manager would still say "thanks, but we're not interested." Geez, wouldn't he be wishing he could take the Adelaide job next year? Great list, finals-like pressure, players always put in.
-
Quite laughable to think people were recently talking about Dangerfield coming to us. Not a single player with a shred of sanity would ask for a trade to us. We'll only get the fringe scraps from other clubs by offering bigger contracts.
-
I'd like to revisit my earlier post. Gotta be at least 10+ others I'd get the [censored] out of this club before moving Viv on. As if it wasn't bad enough that Roos contradicts his own mission statement by refusing to drop bad players, but the team would be fools to delist players actually having a dip compared with some of the other peahearts who pervade the list.

Wasted My Afternoon.

We've improved from 100 point thrashings every week; doesn't mean we're not still the worst team in the competition.
-
I was on Misson's side, but the ongoing effort levels of younger lists like the Dogs and Saints definitely indicates that our fitness department simply isn't up to scratch. The "they're young and tired" excuse simply doesn't float with me when you watch the Bulldogs taking on top 4 teams with ease.
-
Can it though? Is it not possible that all our upset wins this year were more a case of the opposition not showing up? Can you honestly say that Geelong, Collingwood, Bulldogs and Richmond all threw their best at us when we got wins against them? We lambasted DeGoey for explaining away their loss against us from teammates "just expecting to win," but maybe he wasn't far off the truth. I was genuinely impressed by our win against the Gold Coast and thought the corner had been turned. Then they ended up spending most of the year in 16th and the reality sunk in.
-
It'd be nice if we could have ONE year where some of our senior players haven't given up because their locker number is already reserved at another club. Just once. Is it that hard?
-
It's increasingly obvious we have barely improved; rather, other teams just got substantially worse for extenuating circumstances. Brisbane and Gold Coast's awful injury lists and Essendon's WADA capitulation. Ironically enough, the only list I consider genuinely worse than ours (and appropriately places lower than us on the ladder) is Carlton, so naturally they destroyed us today. Go [censored] figure. Even the Saints have well and truly lapped us after last year's wooden spoon and now sit comfortably above us on percentage.
-
It's staggering, isn't it? We pay our list the same that Hawthorn pay theirs.

I'm embarrassed going into work every Monday, being given [censored] by every other person in the office after yet another abysmal MFC performance.

It's amazing watching the gap in class between us and the West Coast. Their players can kick from anywhere in the F50 and they go through the big posts. We miss from 20m in front.

Breaking News: Lynch re-signs with Adelaide after watching this afternoon's match.

Surely there's nothing more to add at this point. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.
