  1. Well done Mo. I did not think you had an alternative. And its actually a fair question to ask if you think that list is not too bad to ask where our list stands against other leading teams. But just another issue you have avoided. Predictable
  2. That "injury" could be the basis for ultimately giving reason for an early retirement as his body can no longer stand the strain of AFL. I love the big fella but he has been just a passenger this year with little leadership evident on the ground. For the good of the Club, its members and supporters and for the good of the game, it needs to be handled respectfully and sensitively. Despite some of the bile directed Neitz's way by supposed MFC supporters, this one situation where I think the Club owes one to the magnificent and loyal service of our longest serving player and captain.
  3. Interesting and ironic Mo. You have bagged the game plan and when prompted never put forward a solution. So I will ask again, what's your game plan to accommodate the shortfall and excesses of this team? As a gauge to the list how many of our list would fit into either the Geelong, Hawthorn or Western Bulldogs sides at the moment. We have poor over the last 2 years and prior to that possessed a brittleness at the business end of the season in 2004-6. The game has changed significantly in the past 2 to 3 years. Coaches and players are all commenting that. The only thing reactive....is the supporters who have missed the changes.
  4. I think Bailey has made that decision. And I dont believe it takes seven years. And that game plan that you prescribe to has been picked to pieces by the better teams when we did make the finals. Its not good enough to get us to an ultimate premiership let alone past an elimination final. The concern is that when people believe the plan is rubbish for us fail to recognise that the cattle we have to implement are rubbish. And the calls to have a gameplan suit our list would have to accommodate lazy front running players that are not accountable nor prepared to work hard when the opposition win the ball. And I yet to see any propose a sensible alternative to cater for our "special unique" and rather skilless prima donnas. The game has evolved and MFC have not and many of the players who struggle with it will be out of AFL within the next 1 to 2 years. Jaded, I dont think there is too much difference in the basic concepts that Daniher and Bailey are applying. I share your sentiment on the goal. Its even more concerning that two coaches at MFC can see where the game and why the top teams are top yet some supporters.
  5. Do you really think that DB does not realise that? Given the absolute crap that has been served up by the player not once has he publicly slagged or singled any of them for the heat the press love. He continually reiterated the need to be more competitive. Its a fact that we do.
  6. Great sentiments Fork. Graced a thread whose opening post did not deserve it.
  7. He was under full scrutiny in a two team town like Perth and repeatedly stuffed up. I dont think there is any evidence or basis to suggest that he is less likely to do anything. Gets back to question of whether he is clean and whether he could relapse.
  8. So its not a fact just mere speculation dressed up as a fact. I think he got hit on two counts. Slack attack on the ball and failure to chase and pressure. For a player with his ability his poor attitude and mindset have undermined. He was sent down to learn a lesson and show that he wants to belong. I dont think it always the end result but what you show in achieving the results. Garland less developed than Newton but tries and struggles at AFL level at the moment. While not being the best player by a long shot Millers efforts and his leadership give him stay over talented players who are slack. Neitz and Robbo are burning credits at the moment. If Newton truly has it then he will get back in.
  9. One of the problems with Benny before the proverbial hit the fan was that he was starting to miss sessions and turn up late at WCE. I think the big issue is if he can established as clean and his mind and attitude are in the right frame. Otherwise he has a ripping frame which shows dedication over a long time to physical development. Its the corrosion above the shoulders thats the worry. However, I am sure there will be other Clubs considering him and I dont think he would come to MFC just to train though. I think given the possible interest you are either in with Benny or not and the on field and training potential is taken with the well publicised risks and both are significant and possible.
  10. If we are trying to build a successful team and culture at MFC and that this rebuilding is over the next couple of years why oh why would we seriously talk to the culture cancer that is Cousins.? On the hand if he is shopping for his next AFL Club why oh why would he choose MFC? Supporter base? Financial strength? Facilities? Where is Benny's mind at? Has he still got the fire? If you were to give him a run at the Club you would have to set the financial and other terms for him and how would you police it and how would you establish that he is clean. And how could you trust him? I think his behaviour and the company he keeps does not instil any confidence about what he would bring to Club with a fragile culture like ours. I am surprised he has not looked up his old mate Gardiner at St Kilda. What now has Benny Cousins got to lose that he has not [censored] up against the wall? He has no respect within the AFL world, he has no career and what career he had which could have been stellar is now trashed. He has lost his good character and any sense of trust. He may work to start to redeem but if he does not who loses most? .......MFC by a mile. I cant see Benny's predelictions fitting DB's culture
  11. That correct Nasher. That's why Rivers is so good. I simply dont understand how people think Rivers gets the 3rd up defender. He does not and they underestimate his capabilities.
  12. Skills schmills. Newton might be. Yze is fast fading. He lacks a yard, is spooked by the contest, cant lay an effective tackle and his kicking has lost its radar. He will still cut corners. But if Yze does have any remaining talent he should be tearing up this competition each week. He isnt. He is playing for his pay cheque and knows he is not on DBs radar especially when our AFL forward line has been poor. I have no doubt the Frankston defence should treat them with respect. If Newton attitude is off and is as soft as boiled egg then the only bag he will kick will be paper. Bate I have hope for.
  13. Bollocks. Pickett finished as a shadow of an AFL footballer. An embarrassment. Nathan Brown gave his all but his penchant for turnovers and brainfades undermined him terribly and he was finished in the AFL. His 2004 year was better. No it was not. None of them offered us anything in 2008 and would not have adapted to the new game plan. Heavens above. If that aint a backward step. Bob's right. You retain 2 of the very NQR footballers and you give up McNamara and Martin. I know what I got from those players and what you would get going forward. Its not good enough. I'd rather invest in the two players above.
  14. He has had one chance so far and blew it comprehensively with a rather meek performance. His repeated lack of effort highlights some compelling concerns about his core attitude to making it in AFL. He really needs to tear it up at Sandy over the next few weeks and demonstrate he has the desire to do all the things necessary to be an AFL footballer. Only then should he get another chance.
  15. I could well believe that. One of the few players that could habitually tag himself out of a game without any help.
  16. Great memories there. Steven Tingay without muscles!
  17. Two of the 3 players dont seem to have the fight to work harder and play AFL. The other one is coming back from injury and will hopefully be elevated next week. If I was an opposing back I would look forward to playing on either Yze or Newton and every time they did not go hard or play committed I would be letting them know in no uncertain way. Frankly its a poor sign that with Neitz being lampooned and Robbo being ridiculed for their very ordinary performances at MFC that Newton is not in the AFL at the moment. He was officially out injured last week but hell he is one guy that needs to really show something in the next 18 weeks that he is committed otherwsie he is on the trading table. His talent is diddly squat if he cant commit to what is required.
  18. There were some things about Jako which were not such a riot. He was a mercurial enigma on the field and not the sharpest tool in the shed off the field. His lack of maturity and judgment in certain situations off the field placed Jako in some very difficult circumstances. Its a pity he was not better focussed or prepared for football like his brother.
  19. Did Gaspar have the ball at the time? Did he turn back into the opposition goals? I used to cringe when Gaspar was selected. He epitomised the trough we were in 10 years ago under Balme. If you get that move of Gaspar's on you tube it would be worth something. I cant recall one piece of redeeming football that guy ever played. I think he was cut at the end of 1997. It could not have happened too soon.
  20. Totally Agree. Another headline grabbing politican!
  21. Great work Chaser J Excellent highlights indeed. Keep them coming!! B)
  22. Good points timD. Neitz does need to lift and I am sure he knows it. I am happy that when he does make errors that he is not beyond a spray from the Coach. Everyone is accountable. IMO I think Robbo is on shakier ground at the moment.
  23. Thanks Chaser J. Selfless efforts like yours are appreciated but they not always properly acknowledged. Look forward to seeing it.
  24. Thanks DReaming and Franky. Not good news on Meesen.
