  1. I think he did very well and he has a challenge ahead next year because he wont fly under the radar of oppositions. Needs to get a good pre season under his belt, gain fitness and lose some weight and make the most of his opportunities. Question what the future holds for him as he lacks a trump card skill to make a future out of a forward pocket role. Good luck to him though.
  2. He had only 20 players who were fit to undertake pre season training due to injury, rehabilitation etc. How could he be embarrassed by that? Those that could train were fit but were frustrated by pre season injuries to Bruce and Brock. BTW, given the year we had and the state of the list the focus on continuous improvement could not be more apt.
  3. I think he did very well and he has a challenge ahead next year because he wont fly under the radar of oppositions. However, at this point and with the question marks about what he might achieve in 2009, I dont think there is any significant trade value with other Clubs. He may have done better with a top team than MFC this year but conversely unless they were in MFC's situation he may not have been given the opportunity this year.
  4. No. Their roles are different. The physical and mental pressures on their respective roles are as a result different. And stop trying to read into my posts what clearly isnt intended. I did not bring up the mental attributes in regard to Vickery. I commented that your comments only pertained to the physical aspects regarding Vickery.
  5. Smaller players are able to adapt to AFL far quicker than taller players. Name me a tall player that has adapted to the rigours of a full AFL season in their first year. Better still ask the St Kilda Board member..he is an unquestionable source.
  6. No he does not. "It's a difficult one for Greeny, but we're confident he will stay at Melbourne," Connolly said. Source: Herald Sun 9/10/08
  7. A 4th or 5th round pick versus none at all. He has nothing special that Clubs would trade for as opposed to getting a similar player with a 50+ draft pick or a rookie.
  8. So would you let him go through to the PSD with your stance?
  9. If there was actually a decent trade for him you would have to have bigger rocks not to trade him. Why isnt he consistent? I am not sure why you find him an untouchable. He has some good skills but has known limitations. He has yet to get anywhere near a Top 50 player in the AFL and certainly wont get there with his inability to play in the midfield. Wonna will pull us a great deal wont he?
  10. You are only speculating about Brad's disposition and have little idea how he feels. How does the voting system work?
  11. No Its just the bleeding obvious.....for some.
  12. That's trade week for you. However a couple of deals may get through later in the week. And its possibly a reflection of the paucity of talent on offer this year and the distance between Clubs on market value.
  13. I think you could say that about your whole reply. You cant even read and comprehend my response and you have to concoct a meaning that clearly was not intended to make a juvenile and rather silly retort. Never has a tag name so aptly described a poster.
  14. My examination of the progress of all talls over the past 10 years is what I base my opinion on and not parrotting third hand chinese whispers that are at best blue sky mining. Thanks for the Nathan Brown blooper. Kruezer struggled through the year and his performance waned greatly toward the end of the season. Furthermore, Carlton are keen to chase Warnock (4 yrs + experience) with big dollars. Why? Because Kruezer is too green to handle it. Kruezer was a No 1 draft pick and exceptional talent at junior levels. He will go onto being a very capable footballer. But he has to develop physically and mentally to cope with the AFL game. And your comments on Vickery attune to physical attributes only.
  15. Good numbers but did they impact the opposition. Nup. At best CJ is MOR and there is an issue over his timidity toward the contest. He is a 3rd round trade at best. I am neither here nor there about whether he stays or goes. If he stays he needs to lift further in 2009.
  16. No he cant. You need to do more research, Carroll is a renowned social problem amongst other Clubs with a history from his time back West of social issues often revolving around alcohol. No Club wants a culture cancer like that.
  17. Why was that? I understand that due to operation rehabilitation and legacy injury there were only 20 fit players on the list that could commence unrestricted training. That in itself put MFC behind the 8 ball coupled with preseason injuries to McLean, Bruce and the continual breakdown of Rivers. I hoping this year is a clearer process with most players having at 12 months under the current regime. There should be little doubt as to what is expected this year.
  18. Agree with that. Geez I want Spencer to make the big time!!
  19. Apart from your snide attack, I am puzzled what a St Kilda Board member talking to a recruiting officer can become such an authority to suggest that 17/18 yo tall will become a regular player when over the past 10 years it is shown that such young talls are not ready and cannot sustain the physical rigours of AFL football. Also it will depend upon at which club Vickery ends up as well. But glad you are easily impressed.
  20. I would suggest we would have to give up pick 1 and 17 to get rid of Carroll.
  21. Unless you want to cripple a 17/18 yo who is still growing into his body, I would suggest anything more than a cameo game or two in the first year and up to 10 games in 2010 is more likely and reasonable. I would rate Big Footy as a more reliable source than a St Kilda Board member and I dont rate Big Footy at all.
  22. Yze has not used the footy well and hit targets for 3 years. CJ does not win enough of the ball and hurt oppositions. I cant see what you are frothing about. Little chance of that.
  23. Agree with most of that. Unless it was to offload a Carroll or the draft picks were a smaller part of a bigger deal.
  24. Good summary. I am wondering about the source of Beetle's info. I agree its a done deal and there is alot of poker bluff going on.
