  1. Midfield Class is critical in modern footy. While I wish Nicho all the best on debut and to give it his best shot, if he has questionable kicking skills at AFL then he will struggle. Nevertheless I hope he exceeds expectations and debuts as well as Evans and Gysberts.
  2. Roos just chases them on the field and swears at them.
  3. The deal may have already been transacted before the Club had a chance to act. We need to wait on the actual and full facts to determine negligence. Otherwise its grandstanding.
  4. Your only positive is that you maintain your special standard level. Any updates on the Gold Coast real estate market?
  5. After all the discussion on this. The club may not have a choice if Scully has already signed with GWS. And if the $$$$ stated are right then how can MFC match the offer? I have no doubt MFC are doing all in its power to secure Scully and I hope they do. But your claim of "negligence" is naive of the situation that MFC/Scully is in.
  6. I did take your comment literally but it was still a silly and meaningless comment given what you have stated and knew above.
  7. Actually that should have been my reply to your comment I quoted....
  8. Clearly you are not a lawyer. That sort of action would really work well with his teammates as well. Did you think he should be advised of this in front of the team? It will get a terrific response from all the players and their managers. Lets show'em that we dont accept mediocrity. Go Dees.
  9. Its academic. He is likely to miss due to knee soreness. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/just-when-davey-looked-safe-knee-lets-him-down-20110524-1f2ik.html Unlikely to be playing at Casey either.
  10. I must have been watching a different football game. Robbo was indeed played deep for most of his career. He was a hard mark up for defenders at his best because his size belied his marking ability. Over his career he collected some fair scalps. He was definitely not a flanker.
  11. you better hope for some rank stupidity then to create some value.
  12. It is about what you get as a package. Unless you get both players playing some cracking football then you will probably looking at late 2nd round/3rd round pick. If they start playing cracking football you have to ask why you are trading form senior players when you have a shortage. And the current C and VC. Not a good look.
  13. Port wont have a top 10 pick unless they finish rock bottom. And to trade an AA ruckman and arguably the best tap ruckman in the AFL for just that would be daft. We are struggling with developing big bodied players with experience and we go and trade a gem away for an uncertain pick. I dont think so.
  14. .....but from a straw poll on D'land, they lack patience.
  15. Is that for the medical staff C&B??
  16. Max is still very much in the development phase. Having seen him on TV when he played 2nd fiddle to Spencer four weeks ago, he looked very raw. And from D'land reports his progress is as expected without it being above average. As for getting pick week after week, who else can we select given we have 3 rucks injured or coming back from a long lay off?? Or maybe the three options that would be selected before him are all injured? And given for one of the games Martin had alleged bruised ribs, then Gawn may have been called upon.....because there was no one else. Supporters will need to have patience with Gawn. More than they have shown with the MFC side in general.
  17. It will a big ask for him to come back straight to the AFL after a chronic knee injury and having 12 weeks off. I reckon they will play him in the VFL. Cause we're soft, we are choir boys and we give up....Its not a problem with Scully.
  18. Granted the McLean deal was a good one and Carlton were dunces in that respect, but dont expect to garner more than a "so what" for Bate, Newton and Dunn. While its premature to talk of trade at this point for Davey, unless he does get his mojo back and plays football the way we know he can then he wont have trade value to rush around about. Green would not buy you much and Beamer and Jones types are not going to pull you anything that would make you trade them. Morton aint going to give you anything above Top 30 and until the end of the season I would be seeing what he can do to turn it around. Our only real value is in the list are the players we crave will be our future and many of those are out injured, suspended or WIP. And it wont come down to sentiment.
  19. When does his contract expire? If its this year and he says that he wants to go to SA and does not want to stay in MEL what are we going to do?? Say he is "untouchable"? While we may not voluntarily want to trade Jamar and I agree with that the above scenario could give rise to this issue. And it may not be an issue of just matching salary.
  20. Dunno about that. He has had one part time VFL game after 12 months off with a serious knee injury. They would be mad risk him. Martin will do him over 4 quarters because will lack match fitness and mobility.
  21. At end of 2009, McLean was coming off being one of the highest paid player at MFC. For most of 2009 when not injured, McLean was handling periperal tagging roles when not struggling in the midfield. Given MFC were heading for the PP and No 1 draft pick and were angling on Scully and Trengove, the writing was on the wall. MFC offered McLean a substantially reduced $$$ contract for two years. MFC had clearly stated the intention that McLean was no longer a key central player in the future. And Brock realised it too. When Brock announced he wanted to go to Carlton, MFC moved fast and secured a soda deal. Of course it was a great deal by MFC. Its ironic that a fit McLean would only be a back up midfielder for MFC given the injuries. Gysberts is already best 22.
  22. I said that after the round of football in 2007 where he didn't front to an AFL match after heavy night on the fizz. I trust your comment was sarcastic, as I could not think of a worse role model for other indigenous players.
  23. If you read Martin Flanagan's article in the Age on Saturday, Davey has been a good leader to the aboriginal boys off the field and sometimes on it. Its speculating drawing a nexus between Davey's attitude and example and the indigenous boys output. Its not the case clearly with Jetta and Wonna.
  24. True. But had MFC meandered on the timing of the McLean deal, Luke Ball was soon to suggest he was coming onto the market. While history says Ball was always going to Collingwood, he would have been a tantalising prospect for the Blues and unwelcome distraction from closing the McLean deal. Given Collingwood was publicly going to deal pick 28 to get Ball, it would have lead to the repricing of McLean lower. MFC were spot onto to close a quick deal of pick 11 for McLean. An absolute steal. Ratten (MFC midfield coach 2004) and Riley (MFC assistant coach for a number of years and coach for half of 2007) should have known better about McLean. They did a truly dumb deal that Curnow was starting to cover the hole.
