  1. I think we can still make finals if we win all 3 and North lose all 3 and make up the percentage difference. Tough 3 games for North too. Dare to dream. Highly unlikely, but......
  2. Lachlan Hansen of North? Don't know if it has been mentioned, and obviously out of favour and form at North. Was a strong defender a few years back, ahead of Robbie Tarrant. Don't really know how he has played this year, but thought it was worth a mention on the cheap.
  3. If you're in a Footy Tipping competition, pick Port Adelaide. That way if we win or lose you'll still be happy!!!!
  4. I was at the game and yes, he did drop into the tackles, but give the kid a break, it's his first game. I actually thought for a first gamer he did a great job, he wasn't afraid to go in and get whacked. He was touted as a high draft pick and went 2 picks before our 40 something pick. Could very well have been a Dee. He's got a bit of mongrel about him, and if he continues to show that he'll be an ok player. Rhys looks like he wants to hurt you and get hurt, time will tell. If Jack Watts had that intensity, he's be a superstar. Jack doesn't want to hurt his opponent, he wants to have high tea on the half forward flank with his.
  5. First game I've seen live this year. Agree with what a few others have said, If Brisbane had of kicked straight in the 3rd, we would've been under a lot more scoreboard pressure. Happy with a 10 goal win but need to work on the following- * Our disposal was so overused, on numerous times an extra handball was made only to give it to a player who is under the pump from an opposition player and would get tackled. Noticed Petracca and Oscar McDonald do this. Kick the bloody thing long into the 50. *Did anybody notice our kick-outs from a Brisbane behind? I don't know how many times the ball was kicked to a 50-50 contest between Max Gawn and Stef Martin, but it was A LOT!! There is no advantage whatsoever when this happens, and the ball was pumped straight back in numerous times. Whoever is the backline coach needs to work on a strategy to deal with this issue. *Hogan a few times was playing from behind on Merrett. He needs to be in leading from the front
  6. Can everyone stop bitching about the umpires. Why don't we start hitting some targets, stop bombing it in 50 hoping for a mark, and hoping that we are 'ON' today. If your not 'ON', do something about it, knuckle down and get in
  7. Bad kicking for goal is bad football, don't even look dangerous
  8. Bulldogs make ball movement look easy, nobody mans up. Frustrating
  9. Backline needs to learn how to spoil. Then we can't get it past the midfield, and goes straight back into Doggies forward line.
  10. Does anybody know if there is live commentary on SEN or the AFL website for those of us that don't have FOXTEL??
  11. I agree LFS, if there is a query on Weidermans ankle, why wouldn't you look at McKay if we were thinking tall. Get a year development in an AFL system. It's going to be interesting which way the cards fall. Who we pick at 3 changes who Essendon pick, and who Essendon pick may effect who we pick. If McKay and Francis were available? Maybe Taylor and co will just go on their 'best available', and cross them off as they are picked.
  12. It's like Christmas and not knowing what Santa is going to bring!
  13. What time is Emma Quayles mock draft? I see SENs Brett Anderson has changed his mind in his mock draft from us being a LOCK on Curnow, to now changing along with everyone else to Oliver. I could be a reporter, just copy everyone else, or guess.
  14. WJ it's so true. Remember last year Petracca was a lock at St Kilda, then 1 or 2 days prior leak got out that Paddy McCartin was now they're likely choice. Everybodys Phantom Draft all of a sudden had McCartin at Pick 1. Who we are picking changes like the wind. Parish was a lock, now Oliver is a lock. Depending on what 'mail' people hear. If Weiderman tested well last week, he would be the lock. It's quite amusing. FWIW, to me Oliver and Francis look like natural footballers, as does Parish. I would rather somebody that can get the ball rather than an athletically gifted player.
  15. Gary Buckenaras Phantom Draft is up on HeraldSun, but need to be a subscriber to access. Anybody a subscriber that can post his Phantom Draft?
  16. I would love to know the type of questions the recruiters ask potential draftees. Would one of the questions go along the lines of "How do you feel about playing for the Melbourne Football Club?" Be interesting to know what they do ask and some of the responses they get. And if anybody has ever said "No, I wouldn't want to be drafted by you"? Curious. Anybody know?
  17. Shame we couldn't get our hands on Jacob Weitering, article in todays HeraldSun and TheAge last week tell of a very impressive kid with a good head on his shoulders. Spewing Carlton get their hands on him. And to think he is a Dees supporter (for what it's worth, the majority of players once drafted do not give a hoot to who they followed as a kid.)
  18. I guess the question is that big guys usually take longer to develop, and if we take one now (ie McKay or Weiderman) we get them into the system earlier rather than later and get a 12 month jump on someone we may draft next year. Big guys are a premium to trade for (ie look at Bulldogs and Boyd), so do the recruiters believe we can draft a solid Key Position Player to assist Hogan moving forward? Only time will tell. Any player we draft could be a flop, whether it's a midfielder or KPP. Fingers crossed Jason Taylor is all over it.
  19. Funny how people weren't so keen on Parish until they saw the highlights on the Sydney website, every player has a great highlights package when edited correctly. Now he's a dead set certainty at 3 according to some. All I want is to draft players who have a hunger to find the ball and want to fairly hurt whatever is in his way to get it. And whoever we draft not to rely on to make an immediate impact, this is what the senior players and 2, 3 and 4th year players are there for, to nurture and teach these kids. Am sick of being more excited at draft time compared to during the season, be great to look forward to the season instead of draft and trade time. Let's hope the recruiters are all over it and draft two 10+ year players.
  20. Nat Jones post match comment: "Yeah the boys were really disappointing today, look next week we will make sure we come out firing and won't put in another performance like that again. We will play for the jumper and take a bit of pride". Blah blah blah.
  21. Honestly sick of the tripe this club dishes up. After wins like against the Cats the players say "yeah we've turned the corner", then to come out and be 49 points down in one quarter??? No wonder this club can't attract members
  22. I don't understand how if Lever is rated so highly by us, then if we don't pick him, most people have him going pick 10-15 range. Surely other clubs at pick 4-8 would pick him up if he was that good. Let's hope we get a few gems, whether it's McCartin/Brayshaw or Petrecca/Brayshaw. Melbourne need a bit of luck to go our way for a change.
  23. Right Demon fans, I have the inside word on Jack Grimes. I work with a guy who is the high performance coach down at the Northern Knights. I'll sum up the key points he said to me. Great engine - This kid will run all day, and I mean ALL DAY. Doesn't stop. Gets to the majority of contests. Said his beep test was the highest ever recorded. (although I thought Morton was the highest this year) Great skills - Can kick both sides of the body. Said at times though he may kick low, but effective Great tackler - One of the best down at the Knights, tough and gets his man Leadership - Captain of the Knights, was also captain of the Vic Metro side(not sure if this year or last year, but definately was). The coach said he has his head screwed on, great work ethic, does all the right things to prepare. Said If a form needed to be filled in, his would be the first one there. Gets his own ball - Not an outside player, can find the pill. Was out of this years finals due to injury, said he would of made a HUGE difference had he played. I went on to ask comparing him to Cotchin and Veszpremi. Said Cotchin has better evasive skills, able to get out of trouble more easily. Said Veszpremi is an arrogant footballer, but said he is a gun. Along with Cotchin. Overall he said we have a player, no doubt about it. So there you go. Take it as you want, but that's straight from the horses mouth.
  24. Listening to Dermie at half time on SEN. Was saying that this is the type of game the board will look at unfavourably when decision time comes about NDs future. Not only losing to Richmond with a good side in, but getting pumped. The board must know If ND is reappointed that membership numbers will drop. There is only one answer, and we all know what that is.
  25. Heard a rumour a while back that Chris Connelly may be in the mix. He is a former player, and is on shaky ground at Freo.
