No you don't have to fill every spot. But if there is someone we are interested in, we should rookie them. Our financial situation is not going to get better by cutting on football expenditure. The Football Dept should never have funding cut. This is a deep year for talent, considerably deeper than next year will be, so if there is talent, we should take it.

It has always been 4 rookies + 2 if you have no outside vets. Now it will be 6 + 2 if no outside vets.

Pretty sure it is only 8 rookie spots IF you have no veterans outside the list. Which would make sense as to why we have 6 rookie spots. It is just that other teams who also have 2 veterans outside the list have 7 rookie slots.

Why do we have only 6 available rookie slots, when other clubs such as Collingwood and Geelong have 7 rookie slots. Melbourne has two veterans outside the list, as they do. What am I missing?

As bad as Bigfooty can be, there are SOME posters there who really know their potential draftees. You won't find too much on '09 prospects other than some names and video highlights of some of the standouts, but that is the best place to look.

I want nothing to do with DeBoer personally. Very average user of the ball. We can realistically get a couple of the best who slipped through the draft. Carlton to take CJ, Port to take Carr, Brisbane a good chance to take Davis... That leaves only Essendon and Richmond I believe with picks in the PSD, so we effectively have picks 1 & 4 as we will have pick one in the Rookie Draft as well.

Well Buddy didn't exactly have a perfect attitude when he was drafted either. He is easily worth the risk for such a late pick / PSD pick.

Good news, but I worry on the sponsorship front. If they can't find a sponsor before the draft where the potential sponsor is guaranteed lots of exposure, then I can't see it getting any easier given we will get very little positive exposure probably until next years draft.

They are all boring and plain. Clubs can modify their sites only very slightly. I believe Essendon are the only one who have designed their own site to be their official site (http://www.essendonfc.com.au/), however they forfeit something like $250k from Telstra per year to do so.
