These awards are always politically based so there is always someone more worthy. But life is not fair so why stress about such things. Goodes appears to be a nice guy (hope he does not become another Hird) and racism is an issue that few want to talk about. I not see Tigers be aggressive. I personally think they are not, but that not to say they will not rear up when threaten. The one my wife saw today just moved away from here. If it was the same snake I saw five years ago I was within a meter of it when it was getting dark and he moved away from me as well. Beautiful looking snake with black on the top and a bright yellow belly. There is one guy who has the name snake in DL that I know of.
