He will probably (or should) say the following: “Christian is a required player and a champion of the Melbourne Football Club. He’s been a huge part of our success over the past decade and remains a key pillar in what we’re building. Like many players at this time of year, Christian and his management have had discussions about what the future might look like, and we completely respect that. We’ve had open and honest conversations with him, as we do with all our players. He is exploring his options and we have given him the room to make those enquiries. As it stands he’s contracted to the Melbourne Football Club, and unless a deal comes across our desk that significantly strengthens our list and aligns with our long-term strategy, he’ll be running out in the red and blue at the MCG in Round 1. We’re in no rush. We’ll continue to have professional, respectful discussions with all parties, but ultimately we’ll make decisions that are in the best interests of the Melbourne Football Club.” Will be interesting to see the answer to questions about Bailey Humphrey.- Bailey Humphrey

Big assumption that they will return to the scene of the crime. I myself will be stalking the Caulfield Racecourse Carpark in the hopes that they give BH a tour of where the foundations of the facility may be laid that his future father/son prospect might train at one day. Too soon?- Bailey Humphrey

Whether or not it’s the right move for the club, perhaps the Suns, as an interstate team, want to send a message to their own players that they won’t entertain mid-contract “homesickness” requests. It could just as easily be a warning to others on their list. That’s not to say they won’t eventually relent, but they likely don’t want to appear as pushovers to their own players or to rival clubs looking to lure young talent back home.- Farewell Clayton Oliver
A general reminder: if you refer to any “issues” a player may have or had, please keep it general and simply use the word “issues.” Do not include specific details or make comments that could reflect negatively on a person’s character.- Bailey Humphrey
The media interviews and posturing we are talking about are the public face. I’m sure a more honest game is being played out behind closed doors. There is porbably still plenty of posturing and playing of ducks and drakes, but the backroom talks are likely to be a little more genuine than the bravado we’re seeing being played out on the radio.Account
