bring in Maric... NOW!!!

who formed that 'best' list. ? Adem was very pedestrian.. Liddell's effort easily eclipsed Oozes

can u plx give us a player by player summary belzebub59

thanks

well.. not really...lol..as some really didnt register much..

But il mention those that impacted..one way or the other..I may miss a couple.. but that only means i didnt see much of them.

Benny.. was in amongst it early.. definitely providing a target and good cover to others . Like it seems everyone.. he got to have abit of a run around contributing quite well.. til he exited the game

Rivers... seems pumped.. ran it out well.. linked well.. defended with vigour.. is on his game..and a very niggled bloke at times..lol.. Id be personally very surprised if he didnt start in R & B at teh cattery

Aussie.. he's a goer.. I think in some ways he adjusting still toa game less about pure skill and mor eabout now, now , now. but he's getting there.. has very nice body balance..and that inherent intuition we come to admire in the inddigenous . i thin a few of his family or mates wer ethere today which was great !! :)

Meeson.. I thought he did Ok today.. He strikes me as possibly a 2nd ruck. maybe more time and mentoring migh timprove his effect but he taps way better than jamar.

Jamar.. a pretty fair game today.. bt he does this at this level and then gets alittel out of sorts and lacks competitveness at AFL... not sure what yo do with Russian.. Good pair of hands though and he does thin ok when linking.. I summise its the pace of AFL that catches him a little.

Ooze.. good..not brilliant.. a little selfish and blazais !! probably in top half of the team today...he should have shone though !!

Wheels.. a bit of this..a bit of that. I dont hink he's really 100% yet. played well in bursts ..a nice goalwith a bit of polish too :)..but concernsme he gives so many yards at times to his man. I know Wheels likes to play off of them a bit.. but you cant afford to at AFL level.. you can get away with murder at VFL..he did today !! Thats my view..others may have seen another 79 running around..thats Ok..lol

Martin.. didnt really notice him much at all..make of that what you will.

Juice.. Some good leading.. and marking.. some butter fingers too. I think he's better in red and blue, but for the moment he needs to learn more hunting and gathering. He does do the extra things. I thought he did Ok today wiothout being brilliant.. again to gt up to tthe r and b guernsey you need t be brilliant at this level for mine

Valenti.. good.. I like him.. has a lot of footy nouse..concerns me he may get sat on!! lol But he does gt the ball..and the ball does get him...did today as well.

CJ. ? I had to actually look for him..say it all really.. he's not ready yet to reclaim any Demon game

Warnock... looks ok at this level.. only ok.. some good spoils.. . This is only 3rd time Ive sem him at TBO.. he was better today. he tries...just not sure if he wil make it. Decisions better today than previous...still much to learn

SPUD.. didnt notice much

and last

Maric.. id have paid entry to watch him today.. He has something... footy smarts.. He was outsized often today..and for the most beat them all. Is quite clever with his body.. and when he gets stronger this WILL be something.!! Some good goals.. he really knows where those sticks are.and really liked his 3rd quarter doubletap mark.. very slick. He played it that way..wasnt luck. Still a little way off AFL debut i fell.. let him find his feet a bit more..gain some real confidece before upping the ante. Sometimes you see some ability watching players.. today I saw a "player" in the making.. a bit rough.. a bit raw..but a gem!!

I got the word Wheels is 2 weeks away

Yesterday headed down to TBO,

A solid 37 point win by the zebras.

Of the dees players

Jamar did well in the ruck, Was ok around the ground as well, played against Rix.

Meeson - was called the new nico by a supporter, but was ok

Maaric- was great kicked 3 was lively and gutsy. very small but quality. Will nudge davey out of the side a little further down the year!!!

Aussie cant spell his last name! Was ok, in and out of the game, snagged a good goal.

Rivers and whelan were both very good, looked fit and both will be back next week. Rivers hands were good.

Yze - looked a class above everyone else, but a times was a little to cute with some things.

Valenti, turns the ball over a bit, should try to be more of a jake king than a judd. Be in and under and give of the hands to yze and johnson than doing it himself.

C Johnson - his last year on the list i think, gets a lot of it, can be damaging but turns it over a lot.

Warnock was average.

Martin was used down back, at first when we drafted him i was shocked really, but he was pretty good down back, spoiled well and took some good grabs!

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
