The heat I'd say

From AFL website:

"The AFL has announced it would alter the match conditions for a number of games in this weekend's opening round of the 2008 NAB Cup, to allow for extreme weather conditions in a number of states."

The predicted high of 26 isn't that bad. Maybe we should change the time of the demonland game on sunday to accomodate the heat then too. Will foxtel or saintsational allow us to change the time of our game on sunday then? Might get more viewers in prime time!!

Also, by doing this - it's an attempt to stop clubs winging about the new interchange rule, in anticipation of forecasted high temperatures

Predicted temperature at the time of the change was 32 celsius. It is now predicted to be 29 c. Hopefully it will drop another degree or two and the later start will make it cooler for the players and spectators. I will be there with Whispering Jack and Mrs. Redleg.

Sorry I have given Melbourne temperatures above. The current prediction for Geelong is 26 on Saturday.

its because of the heat but also because there a limited interchangers and because the AFL know they have stuffed up with the rule, insted of taking the rule back and saying sorry there covering it up by taking it back an hour and saying were trying to help the clubs

Dont forget to tape the game for me Redleg! Somehow I dont think any bars in Rio de Janeiro will be showing the classic first round NAB Cup showdown between the Dees and Cats!

doesn't matter if its 45 degrees, the dees will smash cats

Done, both live and the replay on Sunday morning.

What time is the replay on Sunday?

I won't get to watch the entire match on Saturday as I have to be in the city at 6:30, so Sunday replay might be the way to go.

Stupid AFL planning, as if you can't work out that it gets hot in February and properly schedule games to begin with :rolleyes:

Replay at 7am on Fox Sports 2 [Foxtel online TV Guide]

Done, both live and the replay on Sunday morning.

Now, why on earth would you need to tape the same game live and then on replay? Are you expecting the result to change the second time around?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
