An oldy who could surprise us

By all acounts Ooze has been one of the stand outs of pre season training , and if his comments on SEN this afternoon are anything to go by , then he could be making many of his critics eat their words .

He spoke very eloquently about his desire to make a significant contribution to the team , wherever DB chose to play him ( though he professed a preference to playing forward ).

A solid , and uninterrupted pre season , coupled with the prospect of imminent retirement ,have , according to the man himself , opened his eyes to the possibilities of being able to recapture his outstanding form of years gone by , and he is plainly excited about the prospects of playing alongside a large number of talented young recruits .

There's a small part of me that never gives up on anyone, and will always just silently wait for him to return to his 2003 form.

Unlike many of the cynical old buggers on here and 'ology, I do believe in complete hope for the best, even if I am setting myself up for a fall. That definitely applies here.

Hey, don't discriminate against us young cynics

I must say I've lost my patience with Yze, but I'd be thrilled if DB manages to change him. There are not many players more talented than Yze,and if his skills are applied in the right way than we'll be a much better team next year. He could easily kick 40+ goals from the pocket in 2008.

It's probably just me, but when I quickly look at the title of this thread I could swear it says an 'an old lady who could surprise us' ... probably just me.

Your not alone there - So much so I'd swear they must have edited the original title

Let it RIP oooze.

and to all of my critics...namely the deetox fellow i think it was..."yze is not a leader, oh no, you are going to shut me down now"....i think his recent selection into the leadership group only helps to prove my point mate

'Imminent retirement' is the key phrase. The clock is ticking.

Now's the time Adem pulls the finger out and puts 4 quarters together in every game for more than one season.

Enough cruising around the wing going forward, going back and kicking the occasional miracle goal from whichever position ND played him in.

Give him a regular position and I'd back DB to sort him out early.

If he doesn't deliver it's back to Shepp.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
