Played for Sandringham last season, very raw but moves well.

Craig Cameron as far as I know.

Who is he?

Young forward\ruckman from Sandringham. 199cm I think. Played a lot for the Sandy seniors towards the end the season. Strong mark, and very mobile, has a basketball background. His kicking lets him down a bit, but that definitely improved as the season went on.

I'm sorry guys but what does this mean? Is Martin on our senior list?

Who is he?

He is a tall forward/Ruckman from Old Haileybury who did a preseason with us last year, after being touted as a possible draft pick straight out of the ammos, and then played for Sandringham this year. Can take a pack mark, but has yet to translate that ability into big goal hauls.

Yep he took the last spot on our senior list. The rookie draft (where we'll select four(?) more players) kicks off in a few minutes.

Yes

From his interview on SEN 1116

did not play junior football and started to play easy football with old hailebury when he got sick of basketball and was seen and was asked to train with sandy and melbourne...he is 198 i think he said and he started as a ruckman but then became more of a forward....he doesnt have a very good kick he admits...he weighs about 100 kgs but wants to put on more weight...has a good relationship with mark williams..."this is a remarkable story" from SEN...

it seems he is extremely surprised...he played basketball for australia at under 20 level so for him to play football now and get picked up is astounding...melbourne hope he turns out to be a ruckman!! there you go critics lol...and he almost sounded like he was in tears he was so happy and surprised to get picked up...

He won the U19's best and fairest last year after only playin a small amount of games. There was a write up in the herlad sun last year about it. BOG every game he played virtually from memory

Also heard him on SEN & was clearly surprised that was picked up. Happy with this selection as shows MFC looking to development of young talent going forward. Better option that Sampi who would have been a risk given his weight etc.

But luck for Sampi - but the dream is not dead. If he applies himself and shines somewhere there is still a chance, though more remote after today!

we should keep sampi over here in victoria, play him and sandringham, train him basically if he was one of our own players!!!

Why in the world would we do that?

Why in the world would we do that?

Because he is an incrediblt talented player who would be amazing for us.

If he was willing to do that you would have to want him in a heartbeat.

Considering his only downfall was his desire.

Don't be a moron, Sampi is a wiked player. Is not fat. Take a look at the demonology pics.

Will Martin get a game.....

In the rucks I would say White, Meesen, Jamar and PJ are ahead of him.

Forwards Neitz, Robbo, Newton, Miller are ahead of him.

Could we have rookied Martin?

on the dees site it has a little snippet on martin, says plays most his footy as a defender?

Plan to turn him into a big defender?

Who's being a moron? Sampi is way out of condition, CC said so on SEN last week. I will go with his assessment over yours.

I've never seen him play back, only ever forward or in the ruck. I would think he would be a future forward, but you never know.

There's little point in us training him etc, when we have a 1/16 chance of being able to recruit him.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
