THE RUMOUR FILE

Do you think we'll be able to trade them twice, sounds unlikely?

Nah but in all seriousness those sound too good to be true.

Adcock will fetch Brisbane far greater than that.

Anyone up for Miller, TJ and pick 21 for him?

NO !! get a grip

Wish list: (based on rumours and in order)

Adcock

Malceski

Al. Davey

Jolly

Buchanan

Meesen

Would be happy to see us recruit any of those players. Roughead not there because he's not going anyweher.

I've done my list a little differently, I've done it in terms of who I think is the most likely to come to the club.

1. Meesen....has already agreed to terms with us and he has to be first priority.

2. Mark Blake.... not sure how keen Meesen would be on this, but he's thinking about leaving and a number of clubs want him to, including us. Despite his poor semi-final he's not far away from being a number 1 ruck. I'm not sure what deal would be involved, but if we trade our third pick for Meesen I think he's a definate PSD target.

3. Buchanan.... is keen to look for opportunities elsewhere, has pace, good skills and can push into the midfield. I'd think a straight swap for Miller and maybe swapping some picks is a definate possibility.

4. Malceski.... if TJ is keen to leave and the Swans want him, this would be the most likely scenario... it appears Roos has had a rethink about trading away first picks, it's a like for like swap... not hard to see happening, though I think fans from both sides would scratch their heads.

5. Adcock.... is a very good quick midfielder, but I suspect he won't be elite... would definately cost us a first round pick, and I'm not sure whether given that this is supposedly the best big man draft for a while whether we wouldn't be better advised to keep it.

I think we're over-rating Adcock a little. I see him play pretty regularly up here and he's a very good player but Graz is right, he's not elite. Any suggestion of us giving up pick 4 is crazy. Pick 4 and TJ or Sylvia is just plain scary.

You can't be serious, he is nowhere being a first ruck and probably never will be.

Geelong made him look alot better than he actually is.

Adcock would be in our 5 best players if we got him. He took a step up this year playing in the midfield. Good defensive player and good tagger but if you let him run free he racks up posessions. Uses it well and also goes in hard. He's worth pick 21, TJ and Miller IMO.

Agree with this. He's [censored] around the grounds and is probably the worst kick in the AFL (which is why he only handballs). I'd have him over Jamar but probably not even over PJ.

tj wants to stay and has a year on his contract so he wont be going anywhere!

I wrote this in another thread regarding Buchanan......

I would love him in the red & blue, but I don't see him leaving Sydney and if he does I will be very surprised.

He as reportedly just purchased a new property up here (not a small investment) and has just opened a new fashion business (and shop) with Jude Bolton.

Sorry but that does not sound like a man who is looking at moving south :) !!!

haha just heard that daniel bell for meeson is a done deal on SEN... some people are just so silly! why on earth would anybody with half a brain do this??

I tell you what, I am so confident that this won't happen, that if it does, I am giving up football.

People who ring SEN need to get a life.

i think meesen would be a good pick up. otherwise, all the talk abour adcock, buchanan, malceski etc. is stupid. out midfeild is already full of class, mclean, bruce etc. we shouldnt be looking for a midfielder, rather a key position player. if we're interested in doing a deal with the swans, the get somebody like heath grundy or voges/vogles (dont exactly know his name).

anyway, talk about buchanan or malceski leaving sydney is stupid. roos wants deapth in his half back line so that they can continue to run out of defence. they were exposed when kenelly got injured, and want more runners in their side. why do you think they got marty mattner from adelaide??

our midfield is full of unfulfilled promise !!! <_<

As if Ben Cousins will get delisted.

Yze_Magic - I've been a member on this site a little over 24 hours and counted at least a dozen rubbish posts by you. Your ability to post dribble is astounding.

Please lift your game.

Ahem

I'm not supposed to say this..but I will. Yze magic. You are the biggest sh$@*(@&t talker I have ever heard.

All last year, you blabbering about how melbourne will win the grand final after losing 8 straight and then that whole judd speech and now this about cousins.

You are clueless matey.

CLUELESS I SAY !!

Hey mate, hows things?

Sorry are you his boyfriend? I think he's old enough to defend himself. There's a fine line between taking the [censored] and making a dik of yourself, which Yze_Magic repeatedly crosses.

Anyway lets move on. Yze_Magic think long and hard about your next post. It will be judged on validity, humour and insightfulness. Try and repay the faith shown in you by Powelly.

Doubt you will question me again, sunshine

Despite the direction this thread has gone, I stand by my news that Cousins will be delisted

And I will bask in the glory when it happens

I am currently basking in glory and it feels good I tell you

hahahaha absolute gold Y_M!!! i wish your predictions came true more often, if only for the laugh i'd get...

Have to agree. I've really missed Chilliboy this year but Y_M has stepped nicely into the void.

Just wondering if you're able to predict the number he'll be wearing when he joins the club?

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
