i'd be hitting those odds

Carlton are at good odds because they have the options to trade, but isnt it Judd's decision as to where he goes.

Will he make his decision to benefit WC?

Im staying well away from betting on this one...

Carlton 1.30 LOL

They should be paying 1000 to 1

They have no shot at Judd

At those odds, I am throwing a few hundred on the Demons

Where can I find this to bet on it? Tab? sportsbet?

I'd put $100 on Essendon or Collingwood.

Where can I find this to bet on it? Tab? sportsbet?

www.sportsbet.com.au

i've already had a flutter, $10 on us, $10 on the pies... will be quite happy if I only get $80 back, if i get $140 back I can use it to get drunk and drown my sorrows...

You can do that anyway

This might be a tricky point for some people.

However, interestingly if I was a West Coast Eagles man trying to maximise Chris Judds value no joke thats exactly the market I would want to see. Honestly, if we had lost him you would want him to go to the club that can give you the best deal and the club that is the "least" threat to you.

IMHO the Eagles have know and feared this day was coming for 2 years, Judd himself admitted as much

Think the Eagles are very smart.

Now if Judd was a very smart man he would bet all of his money on Melbourne and then he could be traded for a very low salary to melbourne as he would make 8x his existing account fixing Judd's finacial temptations and Melbournes finicial problems!!

It's Win-Win!!

except for Judd later being arrested for gambling fraud or something and losing all his money but we still get Judd and thats the main point

Haha, I was thinking about something along these lines as well.

Definitely framed around draft picks. Carltank being so short and Richmond on the same line as us. Toiges were not even in the "preferred four".

I am contrary to you on betting RRR. I am going to put some on Juddy coming to MFC based on a gut feel. I think not enough weight is being given to his choice in the matter and WC will not be out to burn Chris Judd. He has been a good servant for them and a premiership captain.

that's exactly right... the odds have changed, mainly collingwood coming right in to $3.50... we've actually drifted out to $9...

Carlton 1.38 Collingwood 3.50 Essendon 7.50 Melbourne 9.00 Richmond 11.00 Hawthorn 16.00 St Kilda 34.00 Kangaroos 67.00 Geelong 126.00 Western Bulldogs 151.00

Yip nearly every market the bookies frame Collingwood always firm its called volume of money from volume of supporters.

Bookies prefer to call it "easy" money. Oh Yes just a quick other point market framed to 140% ... its times like this you wish you were a bookmaker.

however, all that said and done a market framed to 140% + .... Means the bookies are saying "we have no idea who is going to win."

This is getting better and better. I'm going to make a handsome profit, and we'll get Judd.

does that mean if you bet right you cant lose? or that the bookies cant lose? lol

where does the 140% come into it...?

where does the 140% come into it...?

if the books bet to a 100% they break even; so (ibso facto) the extra 40% is the their guarenteed profit margin

does that mean if you bet right you cant lose? or that the bookies cant lose? lol

where does the 140% come into it...?

so if you know carlton are not in the hunt for sure!!!

you cant lose if its between ,3 teams with coll. the least profit of $3.50( $10 yesterday ) then ess @$8 and melb@ $9.

Chris Judd is $7.50 to go to the Demons on sporting Bet... Carlton are favourites at $1.45 followed by Collingwood at $3.75, Essendon at $5.50... The proffessional money not giving us much of a chance... $7.50 does look great value IMO...:wacko:

Well we've shortened anyway. I find it interesting that theres been such a move for Essendon, given that the only thing to come out of their camp would be seen as neutral at best (Lloyd putting his foot in it).

Interestingly if you take the top 4 in the market ... which seems like the most logical choices.

Carlton Collingwood Melbourne Essendon at current odds you still have a market framed to 118% ... which would be probably far closer to normal Saturday horse racing field.

Bookies ... you can see why punters have no money!!!

sorry, im relatively new to the betting thing. how are you coming up with the percentage numbers?

sorry, im relatively new to the betting thing. how are you coming up with the percentage numbers?

easy way without bothering to calculate Odds converter

Carlton 1.50 = 66.66%

Collingwood 3.5 = 28.57%

Melbourne 7.0 = 14.29 %

Essendon 9 = 9.00 %

Then just add up

so theoretically is you are paying 7$ you have a 14.29% chance f the betting is even, but you pay above the odds cause it all adds up to 140%. sorta like in roulette, how it all adds up nicely except for 00, which throws it in the favour of the dealer...

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
