and like Balme at Geelong, someone who has real footy experience in the position.

Correct Balme at Geelong is a great example of what Connolly can do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but dont you need to have served the club for 10 years or 200 games to qualify for life membership? Or is it purely at the clubs discretion who it gives the award to? Having said that I'm rapt at this swift appointment, welcome back to the club Chris!

Connolly is a ife member because he spent 10 years on the senior list between 1982 and 1991. Unfortunately he suffered two major knee injuries whch seriously impacted on his final games tally.

Not one to really stick up for her, as i don't really care for her at all, she did say it was her opinion, not something she had heard or known, just an opinion.

Yeah, but if she was right, she would have been the first to say "I don't want to be the first to say 'I told you so', but I told you so"; and/or the Footy Confidential personal would have boasted "You heard it here first".

This is fantastic, really good team being put together here.

I think it's worth taking a moment to reflect that the reason very few of us were keen on Connolly as coach was more a case of 'it's not a step up from Daniher' than 'he's terrible'.

Plenty of respect for Connolly and absolutely stoked to see him back in the red and blue and playing an important part that I believe he is well suited to.

And as much as he has been saying clearly that he is not 'a back-up option' or anything like that, I think it would be very useful to have recent top-level coaching experience when you're building a relationship with a new coach.

Ahhh... the future is just starting to look a little brighter.

I still want Viney for midfield coach...

going to be very interesting to see what the total football dept line up will look like for 08 :)

Caroline Wilson is the exact opposite of your description.

Naturally, she would have said it with a smile.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
