Was Caleb Windsor at the game?

The only two missing from our full list were Maysie and Tracc. Even Lachie Hunter was there and actually deserves a medal for not being spotted anywhere. I mean, I spotted SpargiPants and he’s smaller than LH. I was on the boundary waiting to leave the ground  and SpargiPants was sitting on the bench by himself except for the guy on his laptop (Alex) who’s always there early. Spargz says what are you doing? I told him we have to stay put ‘til after the GC fireworks 🙄 I says what are you doing? He didn’t even look at Alex, just pointed in his direction as says “learning his job… just in case” then looked down at his leg. 😂

Heading there now. First and most important mission: Operation Hugs For Claz. 🥰

There's been some talk on here about Pert and Roffey.

I stay for the team leaving the ground each week, and each winning game at the G this year, Roffey's been at the gate acknowledging the team and Maybe its me, but Iv'e noiced Clarry and Kate hug in joy each time. Not staged.

Oliver has been a class act this year given the talk he's had to put up with and his hand injury etc.

As Dwayne Russel said on the weekend, in 2025 the Dees get back a fit Oliver and Trac and JVR has his break out year (supported by Disco) and posed the question why can't the Dees bounce back quickly. I agree.

Then Gawn re-signs and I bet Viney at some stage.

A couple of line coach mods and strategic approach with the talent list and  I'm bullish.

The 8 varies each year by 3 teams out and 3 new teams in. Same this year.

The Dees will be one of those three in.

Kate is at the top of the race after losses, too. Or outside the rooms. Just sayin’

Clarrie is super affectionate and playful… ripe for the hugging. 😁 One thing you can take to the bank… he bloody loves being a Demon. He doesn’t hide the fact and likely wouldn’t know how to. He’d make a terrible poker player. 😂

Correct on the losses, but when we win, I'm seeing unbridled joy of Clarry that Kate repsonds likewise.  That's investment in a club if ever I saw it.

Thanks for the previous post - essential reading IMO

I really enjoyed the way the club came together on Saturday. The photo of the players at the start of the game and at the end as a memory/symbol of a playing group who had come out to get the win but above all to enjoy the day was a simple but effective gesture for the playing group and the demon community at large to see as a club who despite heavy media coverage is still as a whole united.

As Jack Viney explained in his post game MFC media interview, there was a simple message from coaches and the general playing group to simply go out there and enjoy the game. I think the pressure being off now that we out of the finals race obviously helps but I just thought the players looks so much more relaxed and didn't tighten up as much with the ball nearly as much as previous weeks.

We've seen it across the season but again seeing the players make an effort to get to individuals like they did with Kozzy after his hard-running goal assist to Melk with encouragement and support was so pleasing to see. The joy they all had when they got around Judd after his first goal was also heart warming. On multiple occasions I saw players after congratulating the player who made the play or laid the tackle then go on to other players for a high five as they went back to their position. Thats playing with genuine joy and positivity. So good.

We can get so caught up with media whirlwinds around individual players situations that we forget that there's a majority of our list that have genuine care and enjoyment playing for one another and bringing focus to that is important.

My very good mail has it that Trac wasn't happy with this initial press release after his injury. It was too footy centric where he would have prefered a bit more sympathy towards the seriousness of the injury and that footy is taking a back seat whilst he concentrates on his health and the timeline will look after itself. This on top of everything else this year has led to leaks from his management, particularly wanting to play for a club with a bigger following so he can play in front of bigger crowds and set himself up more after footy.

He's been alone with his thoughts for too long and not been around the club. He needs a cuddle and reassurance and we'll get him back on side. He will be held to his contract.

well if thats the case keep your thoughts within the club. i see nothing wrong with that statement of facts.

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
