Dont know if this has been posted before as I have recently joined. Last year while attending a game I was speaking to a MFC director in the Redlegs Social Club. I asked why `The oldest football club in Australia`declined an offer to have permanent changerooms at its home ground, the home of football, possibly the greatest sports stadium in the world the one and only G. The answer was simple, it was discussed(not sure if players were involved) and they decided they wanted the team running out in front of the members. I said so after a game all the posters, banners , sponsors jargen ect is pulled down to make way for the likes of the Lions or the Crows. He replied `pretty much`. I can only speak for myself self, but i sit on level 2 amongst the Redlegs, I consider myself a fan. If i look to my immediate right I see red and blue in the Olympic stand. If i look to my left or above or below me i see even more. No one runs out in front of us. If its not to late i think we should change our stance. This will put them on the other side of the ground but they can warm up at the Punt Rd end in front of the FAITHFUL.

who cares where they run out from? we should have permanent change rooms that are the demons rooms only.

Totally agree. If they have theyre own changerooms they would run out City end, left pocket. Putting them further away. This doesn`t bother me. I will still cheer them on to the ground. If we had our own changerooms we could have the Team of the Century painted on the wall. Photos of previous club champions and successful eras. With a bit of luck it might inspire it might inspire some of the boys

Just saw the new stadium on the news. It looks good, exciting for our club.

Was just wondering what exactly will be there?

I'm assuming our administration and football department will be based there, and then we train on the oval next door?

Will the storm and Victory have there admin there too?

From what I understand, Victory and Storm are already based at Olympic Park. Throw in the new stadium, offices that can accompany all three clubs as well as state-of-the-art facilities. We train next door or on the new stadium, though the ground where the maggies train seems the most likely and logical.

I think it's a nice touch going up and down the changerooms next to the MCC members, but ultimately i think we should have our own personal rooms. If they are doing it for the fans than they should think, what would the fans want more? Their team to have their very own PRIVATE rooms that don't get degraded my interstate and visiting clubs, or for them to walk out next to the fans that go to the snow when the chips are down? (The attendance by the MCC members ATM is just pathetic, it's bad generally as well)

I must be sitting right near you in the Redlegs Al, and I agree, the boys don't run out anywhere near us. It's from the opposite end of the ground beside the MCC and Ponsford side of the stadium. Gone are the good ol days when you used to go into the exclusive Demons rooms in the old Olympic stand to celebrate a win or suffer a loss with the players. Those rooms were awesome, situated right next to the famous "red seats" Melbourne members. I vote with you, they should be coming out from underneath us Redlegs, the social and club members. I would even insist they warm up at the Punt Rd end goals for all our members in the Olympic Stand and the Cheer Squad behind the goals.

i think from memory we chose the changerooms in the new stand because they were newer and better, bigger and more modern...but you'd think if they were ours (the ones in the southern stand which we were offered) some renovation could be done no worries...

You hit the nail right on the head with both points you make. The key being the rooms would be OURS ALONE.

Oh so real supporters bag the team constantly do they?? And now they obviously bag their own supporters! For the record I sit in the MCC at the MCG but during our game against the doggies I sat in the doggies cheer squad. I can tell you I would not sit there again for the abuse I copped.

Yeah. Abuse them. They'll turn up in droves now.

For my part I love the idea that a team of demons who've been there a while can feel more at home going to changerooms where they have their own lockers, and names printed on them... pre-match superstition and mental state counts for a lot I would imagine...

But on the other hand, I'm not physically in the rooms. I'm also not a player or in admin. I'm willing to go with their judgement. maybe there were other smaller considerstions that just made the whole thing seem a bit pointless... ie.

- Maybe there was a small price-tag that they felt could be spent elsewhere. And maybe the cleaning, refurbishing, decorating and general upkeep would have been their responsibility too. One less headache?

- Maybe the plans for the rooms weren't all that impressive. They wouldn't want to turn up every week in rooms that weren't as good or as spacious as the oppositions'.

- I would assume if they were going to put rooms in as an afterthought they wouldn't be as close as the normal ones. Having the team get ready miles from where the game is played cold have a negative effect.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
