Ranked by Channel 9.

10. Oscar McInerney - Brisbane

9. Reilly O'Brien - Adelaide

8. Kieren Briggs - GWS

7. Jarrod Witts - Gold Coast

6. Luke Jackson - Fremantle

5. Brodie Grundy - Sydney

4. Rowan Marshall - St Kilda

3. Sean Darcy - Fremantle

2. Tim English - Western Bulldogs

1. Max Gawn - Melbourne

Can Melbourne's no.1 man retain his spot at the top of this list?

Club captain Gawn has truly done it all, guiding his side to a flag in 2021, their first since 1964.

Some teams figured out just how big his impact was in 2023, but Gawn still had his way with most of his opponents in the air.

The Demons have been struggling with off field questions surrounding the club's culture, with Gawn quick to step up and defend himself and teammates.

"We have issues galore at our football club... We have a leadership meeting every week, and we have since I've been at the club," Gawn said.

There will be many eyes on the 32-year-old, but he knows he's able to perform under pressure.

Still a bit wild to me that we have had 3 of these on our list in the last few seasons.

LJ really is the one that got away, despite the sizable compensation. The outcome in 2023 could have looked a lot different and we would have avoided the whole Brodie Grundy experience (schmozzle)

Yep, Luke Jackson would of been pretty handy last year and in future years.

He also would have been handy in the back half of 2022.

It’s Game Day and the Demons have made the long trip west to take on Fremantle tonight at Optus Stadium. Can Melbourne make it two from two to start the season, and what are you hoping to see from the Dees under the lights in Perth?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?
