Compensation for the loss of Angus

Featured Replies

In an ideal world we would get a top 5 AFL draft pick for the loss of Angus Brayshaw. It is what we rightfully deserve as compensation.

But sadly the real world and the AFL doesn't work like that. We get shafted and Collingwood win a Flag with an act of vile thuggery going unpunished.

Hopefully, with room in the salary cap we can lure a highly sort after Free Agent to the Demons? I am sure there's a few possibe star players we can enquire about.

We didn't have a train on player because we didn't have any list spots. Pretty simple. Juts because we didn't have a pick past round 1 doesn't mean we don't know what's out there.  Maybe that's exactly why we didn't have a pick past round 1.

Another logical reasoned answer  to another attempt to embarrass the FD and chief recruiting officers. Somewhere between an army vehicle and a sledgehammer approach is Poita’s approach. In between occasionally a balanced left  uppercut that grazes the chin for a point!!

Meanwhile not having a big bodied backup ruckman for Max this season and looking for another skinny 18 year old ruckman in the draft, who will take another 3 years to develop.

I am sure we would all rest a lot easier, having say a 24 year old, 204cm and 102 kg Brynn Teakle, on our list for 1-2 years, playing at Casey, just in case.

We are now 2 players down on the list for the year, or at least until mid season draft, which operates in same order at that time, as National draft does later.

Not sure if any other club is in that position.

If we had a pick now, we could take anyone we wanted who was available.

Anyway it's not happening, so we move on.

Or perhaps they looked at Teake and thought "even if Max goes down, we dont believe he has thebfitness/skills/attributes to play AFL" and noted that "drafting a Teakle means Verall and Fullerton would get significantly less experience and game time and therefote development at Casey" so chose not to waste a pick/money on him?

We where keen also, I believe he verbally agreed to move but had a change of heart

Looks like then we dodged not just a bullet but a bloody big raving lunatic.

Acting under no one's orders, i think not.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
