Melbourne v Port game thread

Featured Replies

Melbourne's first forward possession at the 15 minute mark first quarter despite 6 inside 50's.

Nice to see Petterd starting well again. Did a couple of nice things.

Doggie Brown 11 touches in the first including a goal.

we are playing well hooray!!!

On the other hand we have Dunn with 2 handballs and Miller with 1 and 2 (at half time). The game generally being played on Melbourne's terms but Port's goals are coming a lot easier. That said it's not over yet.

AT 3/4 time the Dees are statistically well in front across the board but this does not show on the scoreboard.

DUNN 1 kick 4 handballs 0 marks.

MILLER 1 clanger kick 2 handballs 2 marks (benched for most of the third and starts the last on the pine).

i hope we are losing on purpose for draft picks, we should have won today. I am pretty angry about the loss, but whats happened has happened. Hopefully some good news from sandy can cheer me up.

I think it would be fair to say that the protected species may have influenced the game today.

Shattering result...

Can someone tell me what happened with the Davey goal. No one at the Punt Rd end knows what happened, we all thought it was a goal?

The umpires want part of the action. They like the limelight.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
