For mine, the worst week of the year is the one when we play Geelong in Geelong (which is every time we play Geelong) because Geelong. 😁

In fairness WCW, we played Geelong at the MCG in 2020 (never mind the fact that nobody could go to it).

This is true. I just jump on any and every opportunity to biiitch and moan about having to make the miserable trek to the forsaken hell-scape that is Mordor.

Lovely of the AFL to schedule us down at Mordor on a Thursday night, two years in a row.

I would love a trek down to Geelong if it wasn't on a freakin Thursday night.

Ah, nice little getaway.

Maybe tie it in with a trip down the ocean road and a cheeky surf 🙂

Early autumn when the leaves start to change colour, red and dark ales reappear on tap and a new footy season is within touching distance is easily the best time of the year to be alive.

Love walking to the G during Autumn. The smell of elm leaves underfoot reminds me of going to the footy as a kid with my old man, sadly no longer alive. We'd have a pie and hot chips and watch Tulip carve up the opposition. Stop by the players rooms after the final siren and peer through the door, hopefully get an autograph. They looked massive to a little kid

The next month or two will always be my favourite time of year to go to the footy

I think it’s a great week. The one week of the year where every footy fan will have hope and expectation irrespective of what the pundits say.

Melbourne wrapped up the AFLW home and away season with a hard-fought 14-point win over Geelong at Kardinia Park. The result secured second place on the ladder with a 9–3 record and a home qualifying final against the Brisbane Lions next week.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
