Melbourne currently has the longest drought in the AFL in winning finals in consecutive years

It’s pathetic, look at my responses twice and other responses, with regards to other clubs in finals and our premiership drought

it’s a stat which means nothing and if you can’t see that well, you’re beyond help

It”s like saying Freo have a better finals record at Optus than Melbourne

1 final - 1 win

3 finals- 2 wins and a premiership

Don’t you think it highlights that we’ve still got a way to go to becoming a consistent, ruthless team that contests prelims and grand finals, year after year without fail such as the Hawks in 2012-2015 and Geelong from 2007-2011.

I guess the frustration comes from the media talking us up as a dynasty club that simply needed to roll up to the Gf this year and the flag was ours.

Good on you for self reflecting that this thread is ultimately about you and your own relationship to what your expectations were.

I hate to break it to you but we ain’t the Hawks of 13-15 , sure what happened them after 08, missed finals

Cats of 08 lost 2 games all year, but also had finals heartbreak in 04 and 05 before having a full review after a poor 06

Forget the media these things are bloody hard to win. We had a good run with injuries last year and not as good this year. I recall how good we were in 98 but the old finals system and a Jeff White injury at the wrong time hurt us in before last year was what I thought was our best chance at a flag

Clearly this thread was poorly executed by me and served no purpose on reflection. I’ll put my hand up.

I wouldn’t mind if the moderators locked it.

That escalated  quickly

C’mon stick up for yourself

Don’t poke the bear after going out in straight sets

ps. That is a crap stat

BFD. Our premiership drought is now 1 year old.

Id rather win a premiership one year and the wooden spoon the next, as opposed to winning a final 2 years running but never legitimately challenging for a flag.
