TEAM VS SYDNEY

Sylvia in the backline? Seriously?

He's a great tackler, awesome vertical leap, attacks the ball and would be more useful steaming in off the back of the square than coming up from the forward line.

I'd play him on and off the bench in bursts he could really have an impact on this game coming off a HBF.

It is always hard to pick a team without knowing who is available, but I'm suprised with the number of people who want to play Green and Yze deep in the forward line.

We have to learn from what worked last week and what will work against the Swans.

By playing small forwards we are giving their small defenders, Leo Barry and Craig Bolton, a chance. By playing a forward line of Dunn, Jamar and P Johnson we are exposing their weakness.

How many times did we kick long into the forward line last week? Heaps but it only worked well when Dunn and Jamar where there.

Besides last week Green was very effective in the midfield, not so much forward. And Yze...I'd let him go wherever he wants and see if he can repeat last weeks effort.

what is everyones obsession with ryan ferguson???

not up to AFL standard, is only on a list because he is tall!!

and miller to the backline? he is our best forward so far this year, creates a contest, hard at it, shows some heart, which others in the team dont

let him and dunn work as a tandem for a few weeks, both should be in our 22, so just let them play!! (start miller deeper at the SCG, and he get the link up marks around the 50, not 70m out!!)

im not sure rivers will be right this week again, so PJ may have to take another big body down there (maybe PJ and Bizzell can double team Hall)

Bruce, Green, Sylvia, Pickett, Davey and Yze all need to roatate between the forwardline and the midfield, they are crucial to winning this week

Not many people have him in their side dude.

There is no obsession. We admire his courage, but as a footballer he isn't up to AFL standard, and fact is he is 26 years old and can barely crack into the team!

Only reason he is being suggested is because we have a horrible injury list and there really isn't any other option.

id play miller, dunn, davey out of the square with green at CHF with pickett and yze on the flanks

Umm where is Sylvia?

Oh [censored], oversight, sorry 'Yze_Magic', I cut & pasted someone elses post then adjusted to suit. I thought there was something wrong when I had to reinstate Bata.

Hey that's a good article in the Australian that deserves a thread of its own BUT is no one reading carefully-Green with a hamstring injury!!!!!

Another key player(if true) - this is just getting ridiculous.

Its true.

Green is out! But Johnstone, Moloney and Rivers in as well as CJ and get ready...

GARLAND and PETTERD!

Thats some bad news about Green:(

But im excited about Garland and Pettard both making their debuts!!

Moloney, trapper and rivers good ins too :)

Should be exciting.

Only crap thing is that because im in brisbane i wont be able to see it till 8am the next mourning!!! Livid!

Great changes !!!! love em except Bizz going i still think he is pretty ok in our team but i got my wish with Pettard and CJ.. and a bonus in getting Garland along with some class back in Riv, Tj and Moloney

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
