If Collingwood are to keep winning I hope it's from these penalty shootout games. Eventually they will die.

I'm bullish on Collingwood's chances this year as they have a great blend of attacking flair, defensively sound and play with a ton of spirit.

However, you'd have to wonder how sustainable all these close losses are in terms of their chances in September. The law of averages will suggest they'll start losing some close ones in the late rounds and finals.

Have to feel for Leigh Adams a bit.

They just had a great win and have a few winnable games ahead of them.

But North have started the process of getting a priority pick.

What does the coach do:  tank to get the pick or go all out and build some belief and confidence in the next 5 games.

Agree, at some point and especially this late in the season all those 'penalty shootout' wins catch up with you.

Just hope they are nice and wrecked for our game.

It's such a flawed situation. I wonder if the AFL will have the Kangas under a microscope on the lookout for any action not within the spirit of the game? Maybe Ben Mackay's forward move recently should have been scrutinised more! Will let it slide until Davies Uniacke lines up at Full forward and Goldstein goes to Full back but at that point I expect an investigation!

Real talk though I'd go with the confidence and belief route. It's underrated.

Those post-match scenes were so heartwarming. Some of the players did an entire lap of the ground, hand-slapping as many fans as poss. And when they sang the song… 🥹
To think they’d orchestrate losses to get a PP is very disheartening.

Reckon Collingwood have burnt a lot of 'petrol tickets' to get where they are. Hopefully they fall away form now.

With regards to Collingwood, the average percentage for a grand finalist since 2012 is 134%. (MFC's percentage in 2021 was 130%)

Collingwood are currently 106% so they would be defying absolute football logic if they make the GF this year.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
