Agree with this. Came 3rd in the Brownlow as a mid. Kicking & footy smarts has gone through the roof since this time.

At least trial it for a 1-2 week period.

Setting up to fail. If you want to do it - commit to it for two months.

I wouldn’t do this btw. Our mids are winning it, our forwards are the problem with their lack of pressure and connection. Dare off the backline would be handy too.

I think this is robbing Peter to pay Paul, and Paul is pretty well off.

His field kicking has been phenomenal this year

74% efficiency sure has been very good from him. Always thought he was a good kick either side, his issues were never technical but maybe erred with decision making. This year he's been as composed as ever.

We got absolutely smashed by the Dockers in the guts after half-time...! And our mids are turnover Kings...! We are one-dimensional and predictable. If we stick to our current midfield rotation. It’s bye bye Demons because they will Bomb Out 💣 like there kicking...

Our backline is best as named in the Grand Final... May, Lever, Petty, Salem, Bowey and Hibberd. Rivers to come off the bench.

Angus will be our most dominant midfielder...!

Last I checked forward connection is between midfield and forwards - our mids are just as much to blame. Yes pressure in f50 is bad , but it’s bad all over the ground.

Id trial Gus in the HF - in ANB or Harmes role.

Oh yes please. I am so sick of Harmes butchering the ball when kicking inside 50.

If Salem and Rivers can get back to their best then I would like to see Gus more forward of centre.

It irritates me when the commentators wax lyrical about Brayshaw playing on the outside rather than inside where he finished third in the Brownlow.  A big sacrifice for team balance but they should also note that it is a necessity.  He went off the ball when he regularly suffered concussion.  Hence the the helmet.  So I don't think going on the ball is an option.

I’m sick of people taking about Brayshaw’s 3rd in the Brownlow like it means anything. He stole all of Clarry’s votes. Shouldn’t have been top 30.

The move wasn’t made for concussions. It was made because he’s incredibly slow off the mark in transition running and the 6-6-6 meant we couldn’t cover that weakness with numbers off the back of the square.

When you have Oliver and Petracca as ball hunters you need unselfish workers like Sparrow and Harmes to round out a midfield.

The only way Gus goes back as a permanent mid is if Petracca plays permanent forward and that seems unlikely.

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
