Schleprock and other ranting

Does anyone remember the 70's cartoon "The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show"?

There was a character called Schleprock he was nicknamed "Bad Luck" because every time he did anything he would have the worst luck. For example if he tried to get money out of an ATM machine a noise would go moooow wooooooow and a Whammy would show up to dance and steal his cash.

Well, as has been mentioned in various topics over the past few weeks, we have our own Schleprock at Melbourne - Bohdan Babicjzuk.

At both Hawthorn and Collingwood he was faced with sides that were completely decimated by injury.

Do we believe in bad luck or is this guy doing something wrong?

Should Melbourne have hired a guy that has had such a wretched run of injuries at the clubs he has worked for?

We should be 3-0 with our list. What has happened over the past 3 weeks (and I would also include our poor pre-season form in this) in inexcusable and someone must be accountable.

I am not convinced it is the players.

I am more convinced it is the new run and carry style of play. At least if you aare going to handball all the time - do it well. Learn how to handball. Get Lou down to the club and "move the target".

Keen to hear your explanation of how BB is responsible for McLean, Neitz and Robertson's collision injuries?

BTW, that must have been some sort of ATM in the stoneage 70s ...

yeah most of the injuries have been structural not tissue and the ones that have have been by those who missed more or less last year with op as well

in all honesty, there are at least 3 threads on this subject already throughout the message boards.

BB cannot be toblamed for any of the structural injuries (mclean, neitz, robbo, frawley, bartram, TJ) which have occured at the club. this leaves:

maloney, sylvia, holland (soreness on sunday), rivers, byron picket, weetra are the soft tissue injuries around the club.

moloney and sylvia can be associated with ongoing OP issues, prior to BB. pickett can be attributed to being unfit and the long plane trip.

this leaves hollands soreness, rivers and weetra. only 3 soft tissure injuries of which 1 was not bad enough to keep him off the field.

Don't you know, we're in a drought. The grounds have been hard all last spring & summer & the players that have a propensity for these sorts of injuries are suffering throughout the AFL. Shinsplints & all sorts of leg & lwr/back problems.

Maybe you should investigate whether the wider grounds where players tend to use more lateral movements to avoid being caught are at all suspect.

That doesn't have anything to do with the fitness guy.

I guess you did say it was a rant, so it explains how we moved on from our fitness maen's credentials to criticising our game plan =)

That he's bad luck, just like Schleprock.

I think you misunderstood me. Obviously I am not blaming him for the injuries due to his work. I am just saying that he is a jinx for injuries at every club he has worked for!

Looks like Schleprock struck again!!!

I am telling you this guy is jinxed.

I KNOW ITS NOT HIS FAULT but he is just BAD LUCK!!

Sorry Len 43, but you are not being logical at all here. BB is doing a great job. I know him personally and he is a totally dedicated man.

I dont know him, but the Demons need every professional we can get - Im sure he is also pulling his hair out at how many of the players he can't work with through injury. We have half the facilities of the big spending clubs, so every bit helps.

Jinx?? No idea, but it makes for a good conspiracy theory.

My major problem is the idea that one of the BEST TACKLING SIDE in the comp last year were told to lighten up and become runners. Many posters have commented on how skinny the boys now are. We just gave up a KNOWN and PROVEN key success factor (our hardness) for an unknown benefit that doesnt fit the players recruited (anybody remember the need to recruit tough, in and under types???). We are seeing some of the results.

Not BB's fault, he is only training the boys according to the plan. Who's plan is it?? I think we know.....
