Any other attempts to overtake the clubhouse leader on Team 2 before the Big Reveal?

Or any late runs on Team 3? Remember there's a prize.

I got it Maze! Team 3. Ima PM you now with the answer.

The difference between your excellent team and mine is that yours makes sense at any time; mine only since late September last year.

And that's a hint for anyone still interested.

@Mazer Rackhamand @La Dee-vina Comediacan we have the answers please?

You’ll kick yourself when you see the answers, Luci. You’ll wonder why you didn’t see it immediately.

Have been away since Wednesday so tbh I haven't tried to solve them.  I was surprised to open this thread this morning and not see the answers posted so now I'm just curious.

Not sure why the lads are just dragging it out...

The Grand Reveal.

Team 2: the players' numbers form the digits of pi (3.1459 etc) . The "clubhouse leader" was ET the Extra West-rial but it turned out his contribution "easy as", which should have been the big giveaway, was a coincidence and he didn't actually know the answer.

The first one to get it was (drum roll) demonstone. The puzzle was a copy of one that LDVC did last year. I was seeing who was paying attention.

Team 3: the number of letters in the players' names form a sequence. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, then through again. The interchange were 13, 14, 15. Cracked by Jjrogan, mo64 and WCW.

Hearty congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated.

We'll just have to take your word for it as I've not received a PM with the correct answer...which is the first letter of each surname spells out "Melbourne Demons Premiers"

My PM to Mazer wouldn't send for some reason (he's blocked me? ),  but I think Team 2 is based on the jumper numbers making up the formula for Pi (3.141592 etc).

I've posted this publicly because at least one other Demonlander had already solved it.

MMMMM PIE.

Indeed. I didn’t submit an entry LDC. I didn’t read the complete thread. Just assumed it had been worked out

A bit of trivia discovered when preparing the Brainteaser.

In our entire history we have only had one player whose surname started with the letter U. Ray Usher played 82 games and kicked 2 goals in his career which was in the period 1928 to 1933.

This reminds me… @DemonlandAndy, you once posted a list of VFL/AFL players whose first names and surnames are unique. Adem Yze being one of the them. I’ve tried finding it but to no avail. If poss, can you please post that list again?

I’m thinking Taj Woewodin would now be added, unless there’s been another player with the first name of Taj. 🤔

If you mean both first name and surname are unique, I have a feeling Taj Woewodin won't be on the list. And not because of his first name.

OMG, what was I thinking?! When I first saw the list, about a year ago, I thought Shane would be on this list for sure had he not been given such a common first name.
Ok, senior moment. We’re all entitled to such on the odd occasion. 😁

I’d still love to see that list, though.  (Please 🙂)

I have no recollection of that. I might have reposted a tweet from someone on Twitter but I'm afraid without undergoing a session of hypnosis to retrieve that memory that information is as good as lost.

No worries. I actually screenshot it at the time but must’ve accidentally deleted it since. All good.  👍🏽

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
