MFC now look to have picks 38 and 42 albeit this is amended up and down by potential NGAs and zoning or even we might package up to get to pick 31 off the Eagles potentially or the Cats pick 32.

Certainly some bargain sliders available in Johnson, Howes, Butler, Sonsie, Draper or Goater.   Then there is the predicted 2nd round core group of Knevitt, Conway, Zac Taylor &  Bazzo.  NGAs and zoning inclusions likely to be matched include Motlop, Owens, Windhager and Fahey. That could stretch out the round.

who might be available…

Hopefully (but unlikely) Connor Macdonald slides down to our next pick or we package up to get him earlier up the board. He’s a good running outside mid and would be a handy addition. Others in the frame could be midfielder Corey Warner for his strong competitor nature or half fwd Judson Clarke for his goalkicking  and pace.  Wagner would add to our East Freo connection.

Indeed JT might have a Smokey in the pack. It’s unlikely to be another key back or forward but you never know.

pick 42 - if don’t package or trade it out into 2022, could be used on Charlie Molan (competitor, wing half back type)  Lewis Rayson (skilled left foot mid-defender) or Isaac Birt (goalkicking wingman).

Maybe Cripps as a ruck/forward may be the way to go with our 2nd pick if he is still on the board.
Our only ruck Back up is Majak.

If Conway is available he would be my first choice but he probably will not be around even if we package a couple of picks and trade up.

I like our strategy of loading up with kids the last few years and needs this year. Tassy will be in soon/2 or 3 years? and their concessions will hurt the rest of the comp.

My eye is on Tassie player Sam Banks as a running half back type to add some depth to our medium defender stocks. Reportedly has excellent disposal and great athletic attributes.

Limited highlights, first 5-10 seconds have a significant glitch in the video which should come with a seizure warning.

Pick 38 would be a running backman wouldn't it. Whoever that is? Woewodin will be pick 42.

My Casey team is missing a half back flanker. Hopefully Taylor will target it.

Who is Sam Banks ?

Jeremy  Howes brother in law ?

A friend of yours?

Tim Paines Manager ?

Why is he any better than the draftees in Vic etc?

Age and history please

Very light 73 kg !!

We actually need small defenders rather than medium.

Got to say the highlights are about half pace. Not much pressure.

Jesus 58er.

He's a player I liked the look of off the half back line. Nothing more. I added a profile for people to read up on him if you wish. All highlights, eastern states more so, are below average this year for the obvious.

Richmond liked him at 29, we move on and now welcome Howes to the fold who the dees probably preferred anyway.

Taylor said Howes has played half back and could be his best position but then said he will play on the wing. We have Baker and Rosman on the wing so I'd play Howes off half back.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
